Windshields in modern cars block close to 100% of UV rays. Side/back windows are less, but depends on the car. If it's marketed as providing UV protection, all windows may be laminated.

I'd leave in a safe place that gets direct sunlight like a high windowsill.
I had it in my back window as I thought as much. Sadly all of my windows are out of the sun at home, and I have no windowsill at work. I need to find a friendly nail place.

Just go to any salon and get yourself a pedicure and a manicure and ask if you can put the phone under the UV light for like 30 minutes while you're there getting the service done.

 Never had my nails done, but I had my feet done for the first time last month before I went on vacation. I couldn't stop laughing through most of it.

You could just say your phone needs a pedicure. Give em 5 bucks and let it sit under the uv light.

About the yellow band, I have a very slight (i.e. almost unnoticeable) yellow band at the bottom of my screen. I've had it for just under a week and it's a complete non-issue for me. My vision isn't super which helps, but my wife and kids have all handled it and never asked about the discoloration. Their vision is collectively much better than mine, if it were apparent they'd have asked me about it.

Also, either I'm just getting used to it or it's almost gone. I can barely see it even when I have a blank screen open in Chrome.

yep a lot of people are making it an issue of something that's really a non-issue for most. There are some that's pretty bad where you can even photograph the yellow tint, but i'm thinking for most it's barely even noticeable.

Well at least from what I read no one's had major issues requiring any customer service because I heard they are horrible at that. I do believe they have a base somewhere in the US so maybe this can help.

Ditto - the internets have a way of making a huge deal out of little issues. I don't even see a yellow band on mine and the touch screen works well. My only beef with OPO was the blunder with the registering the device on AT&T's network - shows that there was zero beta testing.

It's an issue because it's widespread, and highlights a flaw in the manufacturing process. Sweeping it under the rug is about the worst thing you could do. Publicize the crap out of it and maybe they'll actually do something about it.

I'll probably also have the same issues registering on metro pcs. Now they use tmobile towers but the phone will not show up in their system when I go to add it to a plan. So it will probably be a hassle. The imei has to be added to their system in order for them to give you a SIM card. Then there is the APN that needs to be entered. This could probably be annoying if you flash new roms and need to always enter the apn for data.

Makes me bonkers that this wasn't taken care of right out of the cute. Basic testing should cover new accounts on all large carriers in the release countries. I understand manufacturing growing pains, shit happens, but there is no excuse for not covering the basics in primary areas of operations.

I'd make a stink out about the issue if I experienced the issue. The impression I got from the "publicity" was that the yellow stripe issue was rampant and that the stripe itself was horribly distracting to the point of making the phone painful to look at. No pitchforks are required here.

Now this issue did trouble me, luckily I was already operating an LTE handset on AT&T prior to getting my OPO. I just put the nanosim from my Moto X into a microsim adapter and I was off and running at full speed. But for those coming to AT&T LTE from another provider or whatver this is not a trivial issue. I hope this gets resolved soon.

I've seen some pics on oneplus forums where you can definately see two phones side by side...one is dull and the other is brighter. The dull one you can tell by the bottom of the capacitative buttons that there is some tint. CM changed some of their warming screen temps to try and make the issue go away. I have heard someone finally got an RMA through one plus but didn't follow up to see what happpened.

I'll be porting my number over to metro from Verizon. I guarantee they will not see it in their system. I'm almost thinking I should leave my Verizon number alone for now and just add the one plus to metro under a new number to see if there are any issues with their system and then port my main number over.

Its quite noticeable and apparent if you don't use the soft keys. But if you are using the capacitive keys you will see it quite a bit in Chrome or any white background app

You are trying too hard to look for it. Forget about it.

Edit: I'm basing this off the majority of examples out there, including mine. Its so tiny.

I'm not trying to look for it. I'm just pointing out that since the yellow band defect is at the bottom, it makes a huge difference if you add a 144px exclusion zone by using the on screen keys. It's practically unnoticeable unless you really look for it using the on screen keys.

If you switch to the capacitive buttons, then that troubled yellow zone is now open to normal use and you see it instantly on a light screen. It can be quite distracting.

I use on screen keys so the issue is nearly non-existent for me, but I tried for 2 days last week after chastising those who complain as "overblowing" the issue by using the capacitive keys and its pretty noticeable.

I didn't know this phone had capacitative buttons as well as on screen keys. I suppose pure aosp used onscreen keys where other roms tend to use this feature to program them differently.

Yeah, Chinese phone phones typically have capacitive buttons and they LOVE their menu button. So the order (L to R) is menu, home, back (similar to Samsung Pre-S5), whereas the soft key layout for Nexus phones is back, home, recents.

The photos that look bad are all taken with capacitive keys on. The issue occurs at the very edge, and if you look at the phone at an angle, it looks like intense backlight bleed or just terrible backlighting. With that said I feel like that's just how the phone was designed. Its poor design, but I wouldn't call that a defect if thats how they designed it. Similarly you could argue the N5's terrible edge backlight bleed is a good comparison point.

I could see how this bothers a few people, but some of the outrage is unwarranted. The company is offering a no questions asked 14 day return policy anyway.

Nice. There's only one phone I'd even consider going to from the OPO. I'd love an M8... But this is a super sweet phone.

I'm currently on the M7 and haven't transitioned off yet from my previous trade. I am really digging the front facing speakers.

Seriously, if I were to be offered a trade (my mint OPO 64GB for a mint M8) I'd be hard pressed to say no, but as is I'm really quite happy. I don't envision anyone walking up and making such a proposal to me.

I have an m7 32gb I've been using and it's a great phone. If you listen to music without headphones the front speakers are awesome. That is why the m8 is pretty bulky. I'll be selling my m7 when my one plus arrives. I too will also miss these speakers.
