anyone excited about "the day the earth stood still" ?

Hell no. The original was a classic and there's nothing Keanu can do except ruin it. With his lack of acting skills he'd be more realistic as Gort rather than Klaatu.

They seem to be trying to remake a movie which had nothing to do with an alien invasion, why is there an alien invasion in this movie? If they want to make an alien attack movie just make a new movie, don't rape a classic piece of cinema.

That pretty much nails it.

Even Hollywood will learn someday to not mess with the classics.

What's next? Animated versions of Muppet movies? Michael Moore stops doing documentary satire and parody and tries to make one for real?

I'm pretty sure 99% of people (lets say under 30 yr old) have NOT seen the original.

Looks potentially interesting but you can tell by the last lines that it's another environmental awareness piece

"If the earth dies, you die, if you die, the earth survives"

Sounds like misanthropic environmental extremist fantasy

Excited about it? No.

Will I watch it? Yes, once it hits DVD.

I'm MUCH more excited about "Rendevous with Rama" actually hitting the big screen, but it looks like the current project has died

IMO, this is the kind of thing that Spielberg and/or Lucas should tackle...

Morgan Freeman MIGHT have been OK for the part...20 years ago, but the concept of a ~70 year old spaceship captain just seems...out there.

Of course, on the other side, I wouldn't want to see a 20-something pretty boy in the part either.

I like Keanu, but his acting skills usually leave something to be desired. STF is with "modern actors" who make every line sound like they're reading a script?
"Oh--look. There--is--a--dog. I--wonder--if-it--is--friendly?

I heard keanu reeves has aspergers, (meaning almost autistic) maybe that's why he acts that way.

Excited, no, but I'll probably see it anyway. Big budget end of the world/disaster type movies make passable entertainment.

And? Does that mean he gets some kind of "I'm disabled so I can read my lines poorly" pass?

In the context of him being an alien who doesn't display human emotion or doesn't care how people react to his answers (from the trailer), the role suits him. Or is it more realistic if the "alien" would have a charming southern accent and make replies that are wittier than Stephen Colbert's?

Stephen Colbert is witty? Must be a different Stephen Colbert than I've seen...😀

I'm thinking if the Earth suddenly came to a stand still, we'd all be flung forward and splattered against the nearest wall.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Watch the original, it's available on DVD. Post again when you have a clue.
