Subject says it all. Thinking about picking up a jerker but their website won't let me see shipping without actually going through the order process.

You're going to get a DISGUSTING price.

I ordered a jerker and various other parts, totalling at about 200 bucks, and the shipping was $280 NOT INCLUDING the independent shipper (UPS, or whatever they use). Right there I said no.

I'm still trying to get ahold of a jerker some other way. The nearest store is in Houston, and I'm in Austin (around a four hour drive), so that's not possible.

the jerker is heavy as heck, so I'd expect a substancial shipping price.

I wound up buying the "Futura" L-shaped workstation from OfficeMax, shipping is free for 2 day delivery!

Sorry to chime in so late.. I too went ahead and ordered a Jerker desk online.
they called to discuss shipping and since the shipping was WAY more than the desk.. I canceled the order.

But I do think these are the best, most configurable and strongest computer workstation desks on the market.. well these and the anthrocarts..

I live in DFW and the closest IKEA was in houston..
I had to wait till I had a free weekend .. Drove down and made a holiday out of it in Houston.
The store is amazing.. and you should plan on taking extra cash.. you will see something else you need to buy.

On a side note to anyone else thinking about these desks.. the side shelves swivel.. and can hold up to a 20" TV or monitor.. they are very sturdy.. and make sure to get the extra top shelf too.//

Big Thumbs up from me.. except for shipping of course.. that is 2 big Thumbs down.

Crazy that this thread got bumped while I was on the forums. I really want a Jerker but I live in KC, way too long of a drive to any IKEA store for me. :(

Not sure, I have a buddy that lives in the DFW area so I'll talk to him and see if he can hook me up. He also visits his family up here sometimes so I might see if he can just bring me one next time he comes to town.

I HAVE THE JERKER!!! it rocks. I can put 2 2001FP monitors up there.
I got mine with 2 drawers for $99. I have an Xterra so I bought it and brought it back myself. If shipping is a lot, get a friend with SUV.

i bought a bunch of things from ikea, but i live in nyc. they had a flat $99 shipping rate, no matter what the final price was (and no matter how heavy the items were). i'm not sure why they are inflating the prices for you, but i'd call and inquire about the $99 flat fee and see if they'd honor it.

of course, they got guys to deliver the items, which bypasses UPS/fedex/any other shipping company, but still, those prices are exorbitant... i'd try to cut them a deal.

I have a jerker also that I got in Sept. It's a great desk and has a ton of ways you can put it together as well as some cool add-ons like the magazine/CD racks, extra top shelf, and swing out shelves.

Take a pickup and go. I make the Austinish-Houston roundtrip about once a month and it's not so bad.
