I am very bored being a network admin at a Small-Medium Business, basically I do nothing all day long. Well a friend of mine up in NJ was telling me he is a business sales rep at compusa and makes after commissions roughly 50k. Well being 23 and apparently not getting the job up in VA i interviewed for 2 weeks ago, I have been looking for something else in VA or FL.

Anyways just wondering if anyone has or does this job, thanks guys. Also sweet I know this job could be a huge risk on my part, but hey sometimes you have to take risks.

Well after 3 weeks of 2 interviews and waiting for the drug results and background I finally start Wednesday just doing the training. I havnt put in my 2 weeks in here yet for my network admin position, I am going to wait until I am almost done with training as a BSR to make sure I really am going to enjoy the job. But at this point I think I would enjoy anything, rather than browsing the internet 8 hours a day.

I'd have trouble leaving a network admin job for compusa, but that's just me.
I would think the network admin position would have more leverage on a resume for your next job, but I could be wrong.

The network job is for a small business not compusa......the job at compusa is Business Sales Rep, I would be working in the back offices.

whatd you make as a network admin ?

I would also have trouble leaving a nice stable job to a compussr job where you work on getting commission.

29k as a network admin, like I said the small business I work for are so cheap when it comes to paying the corporate employees. But the call center sales people I know some of them make about 50k......but they also have a crappy callcenter job, but it still annoys me knowing some 18 year old kid who just answers inbound calls all day is making nearly twice as much as me.

29k -> 50k is a pretty big difference.

What's the salary for the BSR or is at all commission based?

If I would have seen this earlier, I would have told you not to do it. I used to work for CompUSA and new many BSRs. Guess what, you will be a glorified checker at some point. The store I worked at had BSRs in back, then moved their office to the floor in "business sales" to make up for down time, they had to help with front end duties and floor help. The only advantage to it is you didn't have to wear the red shirt. CompUSA as a coimpany is a crappy company to work for. You think your current company is bad at paying it's employees, CompUSA is the worst. I left because they didn't give raises, even though I was the top sales person in the store and top warranty sales too. Their rational is since you are partly commision based (it's a joke what you get from commision) is sell more and make more.

I understand your points, but maybe the area you were in was just not a good location for BSR's to make sales, either way im only 23 and any experience at this point to add to my resume is good for me. In the long run I don't see me doing PC/Network Support the rest of my life.
