Anyone ever used the Gnomon Workshop DVDS to learn Maya?

Wonderin if anyone has used any of these dvds before and viewed em. Here is the website:

I am not even THINKIN bout gettin that bundle of 48 dvds, but I am just wondering if the beginner ones are good starts to learn it? I am done with college with a Comp Sci degree, but I would like to learn some 3d animation stuff as well. so anyone used these before?

at $69 a DVD it would be cheaper to buy from the Alias|Wavefront series of books.

I've worked through a few of them and they are really good. Then again, I haven't had anything to compare them to.

what would you recommend for the beginner person to start learning maya?
