I just got back from my parents and the fire dept just bought one and my dad had it to test out. Thing is pretty fun you can see the studs in the wall and the screws holding the sheetrock up. but it can't see through glass for some reason. Ohh well just wanted to post and see if anyone else messed around with one before

pics
1 shows that it doesn't see through glass thats my reflection off the glass you see
2 My pocket pc
3 My foot print on the carpet about 15 seconds after I moved my foot
4 another one of glass reflection and a small bush
5 not a very good one that shows pics of a router. Bad lightning not very easy to see
6 Cool one of the dog

pics are 6-700k

It was alot sharper on the screen but I had the thermal cam in my left hand and the digi in my right and it wasn't very bright out, and a flash glared to bad:p

in the Marines we had thermal sights on our TOW systems...very nice we could see all kids of stuff before the regular night vision would pick it up :)

range seems to be as far as normal visible range. I could see houses a good 150 yds away.

The reason you can't see through glass is that glass filters out the frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum that the IR camera "sees" in, roghly 3-5 and 8-12 micrometers.
