Anyone ever use Uniden cordless phones?

Hey, I need to get a new set of phones. My AT&T phones are terrible, the battery life is under a day and one has a scrambled LCD. I was looking into Uniden cordless phones. I can get these for about 100 or I can get these for about 70. I will need one extra handset as well. Which set do you think I should get? Also does anyone know the model for the extra handset for the TRU58852? I couldn't find it. Thanks

I used to use a uniden. I liked it quite a bit. I think it really depends on the model more so than the brand. Mine was a 900 mhz cordless digital phone and I liked the ergonomics of the phone and the fact that it felt sturdy. Some uniden models don't feel as sturdy and seem difficult to use.

I have a Uniden at home. It's decent, had it for a year or two now. The batteries it came with were sh!t though and needed replacing. Apart from that it isn't too bad.

i also have one of the old 900mhz phones - i got it my first year of college, so back in 1999. it's not all stupid looking like phones are now, it still works great, and i don't use it that much. it has the digital answering machine and that still works great.

Uniden sucks. Don't buy them. My Mom has had to have hers replaced 5 times. Not worth it.

Umm, Uniden is just as large and successful as Matsushi ta. They are not as well know in the consumer market as Panasonic, but is everywhere in the business world.

Anyhow, my sister has a 2.4GHz Uniden phone. For like $150, primary basestation with answering machine and 3 separate cordless units w/charger. Build and sound quality is great.

I agree that reviews will vary by model. Look for user reviews on specific models.

Same here, got some way back, and still work great, including answering machine.

Another  here. I've had mine for almost 2 years now. 2.4GHz but no answering machine and 1 other unit was $59 at Best Buy.

I have a 2.4Ghz model: 2 sets and a base station with dial. No complaints here. On the other hand, I had a Panasonic 900Mhz, and it was the worst POS phone I ever had.

I had Panny 900mhz phone that I paid $180. Was OK but nothing great. I now have Uniden 900mhz phone I paid $15. Works OK but nothing great. As long as it's clear and loud, that's all that matters to me.

I would buy another Uniden.

Uniden is pretty reliable, and pretty much all of the Radioshack branded phones out there for the past few years are made by them :)

The wife and I have 5.8ghz cordless phone from Uniden. They are the kind without any external antenna on the handsets or base. The only issue I had was the handhelds had sh!tty range. Then I moved the base unit upstairs to my office, now all the phones can reach everywhere I want them to go (inside the house).

I have the Uniden TRU8885 5.8 GHz expandable system and I'm very happy with it. I picked up a 3-handset bundle at Costco for a while back for around $170. In fact I just ordered a fourth handset.

We use unidens at work, they work great, no reception problems even with the 5 or so of them we have plus all the electronic interference and the solid concrete walls. Not to mention we likely drop them on the concrete floor probably a few times a week and we rarely replace them.

Just be careful with the tru 5xxx series, I used it for a few months, the only thing i didn't like is the fact that the hang up ("talk") button is easy to press with your chin accidentally when you're holding it between your chin and shoulder with no hand. Other than that it was great. I ended up swithcing to a panny. that reminds me, I need to list the uniden in FST. thanks OP!

I bought a refurbished 900 MHz DSS EXS 2050 from Uniden's website. It came with everything wrapped in plastic and looked brand new. I'm completely happy with it.

We've had our Uniden DCT6485-2 phones for about 7 months. Our old 900MHz cordless phones were about dead. I chose these because they support digital spread spectrum or something like that and won't interfere with my 802.11b network. I like them.
