I've been reading a lot of review on Home Phone Networking cards that use the PNA standard. They're supposed to be just as fast as standard 10mb ethernet. Just wanted to know what you guys thought about it because I was thinking about setting up one. It's a hell of a lot cheaper then rewiring your house. Anyone tried this one yet? or is it hard to share a DSL line using this?

I don't personally use a Phone network kit, but I did look into it in detail when I was deciding my network solution. I guess I was in a similar situation as you are, hard to wire everything up, much easier to use the phone line. But from what I gathered, phone network kits are much more expensive than 10/100 LANs, and only offer very limited performance. Also it is not easily upgradable. I thought CAT5 cables would be much more stable than phone lines, because they were designed for LANs but phone lines were just made to work. That's why I turned against phone networks.

If it's really really hard to wire the CAT5 cables, then go with phone network kits. But if it's do-able, then I would stick with CAT5 networks.

Just my opinion...

If you have power, go with CAT 5E & 10/100 or gigabit cards = more power.. But if you CAN'T wire like me, I gotta get some Phone network stuff.
