Yea, i didn't know there was such thing as one time use. By one time use, i thought it meant you can only use it on one machine with one hardware configuration.

maybe one time use could be in the activation, even if you reinstall on the same computer/hardware config once you try and activate or "register" it iwll not allow you to?
mirroring it as a backup would be a good idea. I suppose if you do have to purchase it again a total of $40 is still not bad compared to $120ish on newegg?

XP and 64 bit together, two licenses, cost me $18, and it used to be about $6 for just XP Pro. Office is about $8. I've formatted about 100 times.

Couldn't it be like one of those DVD's that some company used to sell? Don't remember the details, but I believe after 24 hours the DVD would "degrade" to a point where you couldn't play it anymore or something.

My college cave out Xp Corporate for free. Along with Office and Visual Studio. None of which had activation. Hell, we could log onto the campus computing labs distribution site (with proper university credentials) and download the network installs.

This registration code may be used only once.

it's not like xp connects to the net and sees whether it's been used before....

I was thinking that's what it would do...(after setup and you've entered the activation code).

You guys are lucky. Back at the University of Hawaii, there is absolutely no discount. Windows XP Pro costs about $200.
