Anyone ever tried to wet sand a 1/24 scale car?

Damn, talk about detail work. I'm using 1500 grit paper (started with 1500 grit, mind you), and I have a 3/8 inch square peice of balsa wood as a sanding block. This will take many coats of paint to get right...

what's the model of?

i gave up on building models when i figured that the glue gave me athsma attacks, so i'm not any help 😛

1500, YIKES:Q:Q

I normally start off with 4000 and work my way up to 10,000 with foam sanding pads (foam in the middle, sanding material on either side). THEN I use model polishising wax ("The Treatment" Model Wax) to buff if out even more for a smoother finish and shinier, even coat.

I'm planning on putting 2 more coats on yet.

edit: NFS4 - got any pics of your models?

I don't have any pics right now hosted on my site, but I'll try to get some next week (both models are 1/24 scale Fujimi Enthusiast Series). I won first prize with my '73 Porsche 911 Carrera RS. White with red red trim, Bare Metal Foil trim to simulate chrome around the windshield, windows, etc. Engine fully plumbed with radiator hoses, igntion wires, and wired distributor, and carpeted interior (using black "flock" material).

I also have a work in progress which is my '62 Porsche 356B convertible. It is about 75% done. Body is painted German Silver, and the chassis is completely done. Again, fully plumbed and wired. I have yet to carpet the interior yet though. I've been working on it off and on since '97.
