Anyone ever tried the Hungry Man's XXL frozen dinner? How does it taste?

I would very much like to add it to my weight gaining diet. It's a bit pricey though. About $6/ea. at VONS. Can any of you guys comment on how it taste and if there's a place I can get it cheaper at?

I haven't tried the XXL, but the regular Hungry Man meals are pretty decent. The XXL's are 3.99 @ Mejier/Kroger (I'm in the midwest... not sure if you have those there)

But then again, you'd probably get more food in two boxes of cheaper frozen dinners

XXL's ROCK. 1.5 lbs of food!

i'd reccommend the backyard BBQ, they're my personal favorite. anything on the pork side of things taste GREAT. chicken could do with more flavor though...

Bleh - I'd rahter eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches than eat that crap. Hell, for the same price i could feed myself for a week.

Those dinners are instant death. You should look at the nutritional facts on them. If you eat one of those you shouldn't eat for the rest of the day.

Just wait - you're going to either die of a heart attack at an early age or get fat as you get older and your metabolism slows down. It's inevitable.

Bingo. I'm thin naturally but that doesn't mean I treat my body like crap. So yes, they're really fatty and unhealthy and just one of them has enough fat and other stuff to satisfy at least on day's worth of FDA recommendations.

The hungry man XXL tastes great~!
Try the beer batter chicken with Potato Wedges, buy em when they are on sale, it's like 2 for 5 bucks or something.
That's the special that's running where I'm at this week.

I like the normal hungry mans :) I tried one when it was free after rebate, and get them pretty often now :) Just wait until they are on sale for $2-3 each and stock up!

Those are OK, but I can't figure out how to keep them from getting soggy in the microwave. Great otherwise though.

The Hungry Man XXL Hearty Hero sandwiches ROCK. You're better off not looking at the "nutrition" facts, but they are awesome.

I actually had my own thread about it, believe it or not. I was giving a blow-by-blow of my experiences with a Backyard Barbeque meal. A basic summary as follows:

The mashed potatoes are the tastiest bit of the meal and are really good for instant, cardboard potatoes.
The chicken things are pretty bland, even for chicken. The sauce is the best part.
The "rib" things are probably about 50% gristle and fat. Y'know those starving ethiopian kids you see with Sally Struthers? They'd probably rather eat dirt than this s%$#.
The only reason anything tastes good is because the barbeque sauce is so damn strong. I highly recommend taking the "rib" things and dipping them in the mashed potatoes, then eating them.
Nothing in the whole thing makes up for the fact that one serving of this crap is 127% of your daily salt intake.

I dunno where you live -- you don't have a profile posted -- but if you live where there is a Jimboy's Tacos franchise I highly recommend eating there instead. You can get 3 chicken tacos for the price of one Hungry Man XXL and it tastes far better, not to mention the fact that I honestly suspect that the entirety of the taco ingredients is lard, and they simply press it and add food coloring so it looks like it has chicken, lettuce and tortillas in there somewhere. They're damn tasty though, believe me. If you want to gain weight that's what I would recommend eating.

Other than that, go to a lot of fast food. Or Claim Jumper, if you have it. They cook everything in butter. Even the salad. :p
