Just wondering if anyone's tried it. I currently pay for service, and am interested in playing with it since you run it through a computer. Looks like a good challenge project :)

No, I don't mean steal it.

I just want to see if I can get it to work. I currently pay for all the channels, and will continue to. Just like I buy my software. I write software and shareware, so if I don't buy other's crap, how would they buy mine?

I recently bought a 486 for $10 and I wanted to see if I could get it to work. Just cuz I have a family member who won't shut up about his, and i'm tired of listening to his crap.

I think I remember reading in the readme for the emu software that you need a Pentium, two serial ports and a floppy drive.

Man, I was just wondering if anyone had done it. I got the PC, and I like challenge projects.

Right now I'm researching to see what it would involve, and the costs for the equipment since I don't want to screw up my reciever that I PAY for.

I don't care about the PPV or P@rn. I just want to see how hard it is. Or learn about it more than hearing my uncle's incessant babble.

If you don't believe me, fine, I don't care. I was just asking if anyone had done it, because I was going to ask them how much of an investment the hardware was (other than computer) cuz if it's over $100, then oh well, I'm not going to even try.

And yes, there are a ton of websites out there that tak about this stuff, but everyone seems to have slightly varying instructions on hardware, and all that crap. Please no more questions about why I'm looking into it. I think i've been clear enough.

I've done it... there's no 'challenge' to it, unless you consider assembling things like a desk challenging. All you do is get a card, a PC, an emulator board (the combo ones with the programmer as well). Follow the instructions, program your card to an aux card, hook everything up, boom, there you go. No real challenge, even a monkey could do it.

I set mine up like 6 months ago, and haven't had a single problem since. Great having that, especially since in Canada we can't get DTV.

BTW, cost me almost $1000 Cdn to set mine up, because i had a couple of things seized by custom (including an H-card, which at the time i paid $350cdn). But worth every penny.

Oh yeah, it's going to easily cost over $100... i'm not too sure how much the h-card is going for now adays, but i would imagine at least $200. The emulator itself is another $200 or so, and you'll need another receiver.

you can't emu HU cards now, most all subscribers are off the H cards cause dave is going to terminate the H stream probably within a year.

You can activate tiers and 3m your hu card, but that would be illegal.

But since your in canada, it would be legal to do since they don't sell access in canada at this time, go read www.dssforums.ca , of course i dont condone stealing cable/satellite/warez, this would only be for educational purposes.
