Anyone ever tried an 800MHz P4 on a 533 board?

I have an Asus P4B533 at work and was going attempt to plop in a 2.8C, thinking it probably won't work.

can anyone tell me if it will or will not? I am assuming it's a limitation of the 845E chipset itself, but just curious. I also DO have some 400MHz RAM.

no big loss if it won't work, I'll just have to upgrade the board too I guess.

thanks.

I plopped a 2.8C into my P4T533C and it worked fine just at a lower speed due to the lower FSB.

I once put a 2.4C into an Albatron 845PEV-Pro motherboard (845PE chipset). Got it running at 190MHz FSB, so the CPU ended up being underclocked a hair. Otherwise it worked fine, though funny thing was that when the original CPU was put back in (P4 1.6A) Windows XP died.
