Anyone ever travelled the world by themselves?

If so, I have questions for you:

- Did you meet a lot of people? Where/how?
- Where did you stay?
- How much did you spend?
- Did you sleep with a lot of girls?
- How long did you go for?
- Overall, was it as awesome as I'd imagine it would be? Would you do it again?

- Clubs/Bars/Malls but mostly in the Hostel
-Hostels/Hotels/Ashrams
-$LOTS$ but you don't have to
-Anywhere from a week to two months
-It's fun, but it's much better going with friends.

Didn't we have a guy on here last year that went all in the southeast Asia as well as Austrailia for a year. Cost him 10 grand ish, he had a blog too, lots of pics.

Look him up

I did central america for about 150$ a week for 3 months. Other places just a few weeks at a time. I loved it. I personally dislike traveling with all my friends because im a fan of the cheap hostel way of life and not many americans understand it. You meet tons of people, i was never traveling alone (traveled with 2 norwegian girls for 3 weeks =D )

- You meet people from everywhere BUT america. Most people are from europe.
- I stayed in hostels/really cheap hotels.
- $150 a weekish in central america, quite a bit more in europe, probably at least 400 a week there.
- no, im not a total whore. I slept with a few but there are a ton of opportunities
- It was awesome, i plan on doing it again but my feet itch bad to go places!

I've done it all over from Europe to SE Asia to India. All of your questions completely depend on your personality.

If you're a very sociable guy and you go out a lot, and you'd be comfortable going to a bar by yourself, then:

- Did you meet a lot of people? Where/how? YES
- Where did you stay? Hostels in developed world, Hotels in underdeveloped world
- How much did you spend? $45/day in Europe, $25/day in India/SE Asia. Drinking a lot.
- Did you sleep with a lot of girls? I did better than I do back home.
- How long did you go for? 3 months, 7 months, 3 month
- Overall, was it as awesome as I'd imagine it would be? Would you do it again? Yes. Since my first trip this is my life: 3 months overseas / 7 months home / 7 months overseas / 5 months home / 3 months overseas / 4 months home / and now I'm off again indefinitely, probably over a year

If you're not sociable and do not feel comfortable going out to bars alone and have never walked up to a woman an initiated conversation had had sex with her that night, then:

- Did you meet a lot of people? Where/how? You won't
- Did you sleep with a lot of girls? You won't
- Overall, was it as awesome as I'd imagine it would be? Would you do it again? It wouldn't be

edit: With that said, I'm more guy #2 but I've always traveled with very sociable people. My biggest problem is initiating conversations and so I have a surrogate who does that and I make a ton of friends.

Yes it was me. If I'm allowed a shameless self plug once in a while... my website was www.m-why.com. 🙂

-Yes, you are more likely to meet others when alone, sometimes you are lonely, but no fights.
-at hotels for 5 to7 bucks a night, in my tent, as guests of drivers I hitchiked with.
-3 to 15 a day, I go home when the moneys gone
-yes, there is something very attractive about a free male, they must be captured, its alluring
-1.5 yrs, many times
-I've done it many times

I was in a hurry earlier, so I just took some time to read others responses. I prefer traveling alone. I usually have no itinerary so I can travel with someone else for a time. People can be more open to you to offer you a ride or a place to sleep if you're one person. You also learn an incredible amount about the culture when you're traveling, because they (the locals) are your contacts. You learn how to walk into central parts of towns and hang out with other ex-pats, IMHO.
