My doctor prescribed Alprazolam (Xanax generic) .25mg for when I have trouble sleeping. I have a high pressure job, been on manditory overtime since last February, and I have problems shutting my brain off at night (getting work out of my head in the quietness of night). My doctor also told me I could take up to 4 .25mg tablets when sleeping is really difficult. Before the Alprazolam, the doctor prescribed Ambien. Let me tell you, that shit is bad. Besides leaving me groggy the next day, my wife said I'd get up in the middle of the night and do some really stupid stuff that I have no memory of. One such episode I woke up around 2 am, got in her car, opened the garage door and tried to leave. Well, I didn't get very far because I had parked my Trailblaser outside the garage and behind her car. She woke up when she heard the crunch and the tires squealing as I was trying to push the parked trailblazer out of the way with her car. I don't remember any of it, but we had two crunched bumpers I had to have repaired.
Anyway, for me, Alprazolam doesn't make me drowsey unless I take more than .5mg, and it usually just calms me down a bit.
