Anyone Ever SkyDive?

I've always wanted to jump out of a plane.

Now say that to your mother. 🙂

A friend and I will be SkyDiving this weekend and I was wondering, as anyone here SkyDive'd? How was your experience?

Many times
First time will scare the h3ll out of you, everytime after that is just exilarating. .

The furthest I've ever jumped out of a plane was............ six feet from the ground. Sorry no help but I do know the landing was rough on my knees.

What if the parachute doesnt open?

What if a rollercoaster came off its tracks?
What if you were hit by a car?
What if you were swimming and the low-tide sucked you under and away?
What if the cord snapped when you budgie-jumped?

I think for a 1-2 hour lesson + the plane ride all together totals $180.

Nah, but my brother does it once a year. I want to go hang-gliding... longer thrill.

Depends on what you plan on doing. I have friends who just wanted to do it once so they went tandem with a jump master attached to them. Others like myself wanted to multiple so we're going for our licenses, which means we go through a progression of jumps learning different skills and passing tests to get our license. I've been 6 times. And yeah the first time they open the door of the airplane it's definitely scary, but once you get over that it is soooo much fun. Still have another 19 jumps to go to get my license. Goin on another jump this month sometime.

In terms of prices I'm doing it with a club at my college so it was $140 for 5 hours of ground school and a static line jump and then $40 a jump after that.

I went solo about 10 years ago at 12,000 feet... I think. I spent an entire day training for the jump, so it was a two day affair. I had two jumpmasters go with me, and during the freefall they were on both sides of me just in case I ran into trouble. It was nice in that it wasn't tandem though. The freefall lasted a minute.

I think I paid ~$300 for the experience, but it's been so long I forget. I wouldn't mind doing it again at some point.

I love the scare. I ran through six-flags theme park the minute they opened, and finished all of their coasters in two hours and had 10 hours to go 😀

this is a video of me and friends. the place is in NJ. seems like their death rate is 1 in 10,000. not bad... 🙂
it is 180, plus another 80 if you get the video. i wish i had purchased the video 🙁

it is unlike anything i have ever experienced!!!
is it better than s.e...? i dont think so.
but you decide.

To be honest I am a little nervous... but its probably because I didn't want to spend almost $200 and drive 60 miles. But now I'm leaving in 3 days 😀

Say goodbye to your package for a few hours. That strap wasn't designed for men. Our plane was so full, we were happy to get out.

Good luck, you'll never forget it.

I've done 165 so far... for your first you're all good a little anxious a little scared on the plane ride up. Then they open the door and your anxious smile turns into an omgwtf. It's just so unnatural to see other people jumping out of an airplane, and it looks somewhat violent from where you're sitting. One second they are looking out the door then BAM they're gone.

Then you inch closer and closer until you're sitting in the door with your legs dangling out and you totally have no idea why you're doing this. A quick push from your TI and you're out and you totally remember why you're doing this. ~60 some odd seconds later (will only feel like 15 for you) and you're under a ginormous canopy floating back to the ground. Ask your TI to do some 360's, see if he'll let you play with the toggles and don't forget to scream!

Which dropzone are you going to?

The organization is called: AtmosphAIR.

I don't know much else than that.

The weather is looking like its only going to be 1-2 degrees above freezing. We may hold off a day or two now.

Hey that's where I jump! And their death rate is not 1 in 10,000!
