I sent an L series lens back to San Jose Canon for repair. Very efficient and the lens worked great until I sold it.

i sent a 300D back due to a manu. defect (the foam that catches the mirror started shedding in the body!?) they fixed it and returned it but there was still sh!t up on the focusing plate, so i sent it back and they replaced the focusing plate, but when they did the sticker with the focusing marks on it was blurred and off, so i sent it back again. Overall I spent 1 year sending it back, and had to call canon corporate offices - got a hold of one guy who I worked with for about 6 months of the 1yr and finally I just said, look I want to use my camera, how about after this next time you just give me 1yr extra warranty and if I have any problems I'll take care of it later.

The service was fast every time and once I got a hold of corp offices my shipping was paid for both ways, the only thing that bothered me is that they refused to replace my camera with another one and insisted on repairing it every time. The last time I sent it in it was all fixed tho, there was one piece of sh!t on the focusing plate but I don't care it doesn't show in pictures. Been using it for 2 years now without problems, and hoping to upgrade to another canon soon.

I think I just got unlucky cause I had never heard of anything like that happening before, my uncle told me it was really weird and is a major canon user in his profession.

Sent my sd450 back during the summer. Great service! The screen broke, I suppose when it was in my pocket. I didn't even do anything that might cause serious damage to it. Anyways...the camera was still under warranty and they fixed it all for free. High satisfied with Canon :)

I would say no to that...

Don't remember how long it took for mine to get repaired..but it was definitely longer than 8 days.

it depends on the amount of cameras they have waiting, every time I sent it I got it back within a week usually, but I always shipped overnight - 1day to get there, 2 days in shop and 2-3 days to get back, this was during summer and stuff.

considering the time (Christmas) it is unlikely you'll get it back within 8 days.

ymmv though, if you have to have it back within 8days def ship it out asap and overnight at the least.

I have sent in twice, once out of warranty and no charge. They sent a letter saying it was a complementary repair. It was supposed to be 80 bucks.

Canon has by far the best service of any company I've ever dealt with. We sent our camera in that was over a year out of warranty and it was replaced free of charge, they also exchanged all our memory cards since the new camera used different memory. The next week we went on vacation and my youngest ran off into the ocean with the camera and ruined it :( We called canon and they told us for $50 we could get a replacement camera AND 512MB memory for it.
