As some already know, I have had my Mazda 3S (see sig) for sale since early September. I have had several phone calls, a few test drives, but no sale as of yet.
I bought it for $20K OTD back in January 2005. It now has 20K miles on it. I had in on the market for $17,250 at first but that is obviously way too close to MSRP on a 2007. I now have it on the market for $15,250.
I went to Carmax on Monday and they will give me $14K now, and I could be done with it. I owe the county/state $210 in taxes on it in three weeks if I keep it longer, bringing the difference to $1000 really.
My plan is to see how many phone messages my father's answering machine has received when we get back to Atlanta on Saturday (currently in Jacksonville). If no serious calls received during this "shopping week of the year" then I just may sell it to Carmax.
Essentially I paid $3K/year or $250/month for the car. But I just think the sooner I get the $14K back into my Car Savings Account (which has been growing since I bought the car) the better.
