3DMark2001 Error

I run at 1280x1024, and I also tried going to 1024x768 and that didn't work either. I can get through about 4 tests, then that error pops. up. Running Win2k, SP2, DX8 ("a" I believe, I downloaded it from MS and it was called DX80NTeng.exe), Gainward GF3, Athlon 1.4, KG7 Raid, 512MB Crucial REG-ECC.

TIA if you can offer any insight to this one.

Have you tried running through the tests in dxdiag? They will often give you a clue about what the problem is.

Are you using AOL compressed graphics? 😉

The error msg reads "3d mark could not initialize your 3d accelerator. Try to downgrade your display settings. DirectX error message. Fatal error: failed to validate material."

Very weird. I ran all Dxdiag tests and found nothing wrong, everything was in order. I reinstalled directX, rebooted, and 3dmark ran fine. Didn't work doing that yesterday.

Damn, cancel that. It only ran once, and it won't run again. Same error message.

Any ideas what might cause this?

What drivers are you running for your GF3. You may wanna try running the dx 8.1 beta it worked for me to solve another problem.

Yes! My OS install is on a FAT drive, but 3dmark is on an NTFS partition....is that the problem?
