The g/f is a big U2 fan, so I took her to see this band last night. I like most of U2's stuff (Joshua Tree era), but i'm not a gigantic fan. Anyway... supposedly they are world famous and play these huge tours all over. Anyone ever see them? Two things of note:
* For songs that required bongo's or keyboard, they synthesized pre recorded loops... the drum kit only had 2 toms total (a floor and one above the kick). I asked the engineer who was playing the bongo's or keyboard and he said "oh that's all prerecorded..."
* The lead singer tried to but looked NOTHING like bono. he looked like a short fat mess. add that to the fact that he sounded VERY little like Bono (supposedly my gf said that he is new?) I saw him before the show in the bar section and I thought he was just some idiot wearing a straw hat to a bar.
Anyone ever see this band? Huge disappointment... especially if they are as popular as my gf said.
