Anyone ever replace an engine mount on a car and know what it costs

Just got back from the dealer, said the vibration in the front of the car is probably caused by a broken engine mount, how much should this cost to fix, anyone have a clue?

For 2 mounts on my 94 Cavalier (2.2L 4cyl), it cost $50. I jacked the front of the car up and placed it on jackstands. I then used the jack and an old chemistry book on the oil pan to take some weight off the engine. The old mounts unbolted and the new ones went right in. It took about 2 hours, and that includes 20 minutes to drive out for loctite when i couldn't find mine.

If you do it yourself, it shouldn't be too bad (just be careful and do one mount at a time). I have no idea how much it would cost if you get it done at the dealer.

If you do the work yourself, cheap. Otherwise, having it done is SPENDY because they have to pull the engine block out which means disconnecting the exhaust, transmission, and lots of hose.

depends, what kinda car, size engine, and WHICH motor mount?

Once my Mustang was up on the rack, it took about 1/2 hour or so to replace both motor mounts.

This totaly depends on car and engine. Hell, I could probably do my truck in an hour. The rear one on a northstar equipped Caddy is another story.

its a Saturn SL2, 4 cyl, I have no idea which motor mount it is

For once, I actually agree w/this guy. j/k Seriously, how mechanically adept are you? Do you have tools? A jack? Can you borrow/have access to them?

The Trans mount might be a little tricky, but the others look straight forward.

The mounts are between $40-$50 each.

Labor would be between $50-$120 depending if anything needed to be taken off to get to a bolt of one of the mounts.
And when One mount gos it puts a heavy load on the others, so check them and replace them if they look bad.

Depends on the car and the mount. The front mount in my car costs about $20 for the part and you can do it yourself with a few tools and a floor jack.

hehe I bought both motor mounts and the trans mount for my turbo caravan for $21 🙂.
