Anyone ever owned a Cloudveil jacket?

I was looking for a lightweight, slim-fitting, insulated jacket to help brave the horrible Ontario winters and found this.

It's exactly what I wanted out of a jacket, but I've never heard of the company. I ordered anyway, but I'm curious if anyone out there has experience with Cloudveil...

cloudveil is a solid outdoors-type company. often credited with the popularization of the modern day softshell.

I would consider also the mountain hardwear phantom or subzero jackets. the phantom retails for $230, uses 800fill down, and is a true lightweight at 16oz. the sub zero retails for $160 and weighs ~27oz using 650 fill. in terms of warmth, both of the MH jackets are comparable to each other, and are warmer than the cloudveil. (based on specs on the cloudveil, i have experience with the MH jackets). The sub zero and cloudveil use a more durable fabric than the phantom.

if the cloudveil is what you like, by all means go ahead and get it. its a quality garmet.

Thanks for your well-thought out reply, GOSHARKS.

I had a peek at the two jackets you recommended, and while they're comparable, they both appear to be too bulky.

I want down-filled insulation, but not too bulky or puffy. Hard to find and thusfar the only jacket to meet my requirements (warmth and slim) is the Cloudveil Inversion.

In that case, take a look at the Moonstone Lucid. I dont like the styling of it though.
