Anyone ever have troubles with integrated audio?

I am currently looking to build a system, and I am wondering if the integrated C-media audio on the ASUS A7M266 motherboard will cause me any troulbes if I disable it. A friend told me of his experiences with integrated audio, and I would like to know if any of you have ever had trouble.

ive got integrated audio on my mother board, but it's not an asus, the quality is poor, and i have bad driver support, but i guess thats just a prob. with my manufacturer, not the device.
don't get integrated audio, buy a sound card.

I have integrated audio in one of my systems, it's a creative CT5880 chip (Gigabyte mobo). No problems at all, supports 4 speakers, acceptable sound quality. Only lacks 3D positional stuff like EAX.

I use integrated AC97 Soft-Audio on one motherboard, and that same C-Media chip on another. Both work fine.

Not superb quality, but it gets the job done.

And you can disable it just fine. Or just not use it.
You can have multiple sound cards installed under Windows just fine you know 😉 But there should be a flag in your BIOS to disable it.

Or maybe even a jumper.
