See a doctor, the only way to get rid of strep throat is through medication. I had it once for like a month then decided to go see a doc, he gave me antibiotics and it was gone within the first dose!

Yeah. I mean, my throat is all better now, it's just my thyroid that's being a bitch. What would people do before they had antibiotics for strep, just kinda take it as it comes?

If you haven't been to the doctor how can you tell it's strep throat?

Q: What did people do for all diseases that we now treat with medication?

Answer:
Some got serious infections, and from there, some died, some lived.

Because I had all the symptoms listed on every page on the internetz. I didn't have any other symptoms that would indicate it as being a cold, it came on really fast (all in one day),a good portion of my throat turned white, my lymph nodes were swollen, I had a fever, and the pain was unlike anything that a sore throat has ever given me. I can't see what else it could've been.

Went to the doctors, nothing happened. They did blood work but didn't find anything. I figured it would be a waste of time.

haven't read the whole thread, but if you continue to have pain when swallowing it may be epiglotitis (sp?)...i had this a few years ago and it was incredibly painful to swallow, felt like shards of glass going down my throat

a trip to the ER doc failed to diagnose it, i ended up going to see an ENT doc who put a camera up my nose & down my throat to take a look
