I Just had sushi for dinner and i thought about when i traveled to japan. It was the only place i had shrimp sashimi and it definitely tasted weird, but different. i probably wont ever try it again because raw shrimp is known to contain parasites.

anyone else ever have this before?

Not a fan of raw shrimp, lobster, or squid. I like it cooked though.

amaebi is awesome

if you get the fried head you can tell how good the joint is by how much grease is left on the plate + how crunchy it is

Yeah, nothing too special but then again it is shrimp. Mmmm... fatty fatty tuna sashimi.

Twice, I've eaten 1 or 2 raw shrimp right out of the net after catch off the coast of Louisiana... near Grand Isle to be exact.

I lived, and it actually wasn't all that bad.

And mind you, this wasn't the prepared version you speak of.

tried it once

it was covered in oil and I didn't like the taste or texture. this is a pretty stupid description, but I guess it tasted like raw shrimp to me.

that's a different type of shrimp

amaebi = sweet shrimp, usually served raw except for the head, which is either fried or used in miso

you're thinking of ebi
