What the hell...mine just started doing the same thing. Started doing the "unplug-plug" trick to keep it workling but its getting less and less between times that I have to do that.

<< They're also sending a Pre-Paid Box to send the old one back! >>

I've replaced two already and never had to send the old one back.

i tend to use logitech mice. been using them snice i was like 10 years old. only non logitech i ever had was a intellimouse explorer since logitech didnt have optical yet. that was a nice mouse, but i decided to go trackball and MS trackball sucks. sucks my trackballis kinda dirty now. i also have a logitech firstmoust optical for wheni'm out with my laptop. they are cheaper anyways and i like the shape better.

keyboards i tend to use microsoft, it hink the natural is far better than any logitech keyboard. MS is really good about RMAs, i called in for an MS natural once, and they overnighted me a new one, and i didnt even have to send the oldone in.

well, mine died too (kept turning on and off, problem kept getting worse), so I decided to rip it open (a new one was already on the way). The connection between the cord and the mouse itself was loose. If I pushed down on it, it would work perfectly. But, that wasn't exactly convenient... that was the original intellimouse explorer model, and they sent me a replacement intellimouse explorer 3.0. Me likey.

Update, again...
Got my replacement Intellimouse today. The optical wheel mouse is cool, but What a POS the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 is. SUX, Bigtime. All the reasons that I bought the original one, are no longer valid. I bought the Original one 'cause it was big, the back and forward buttons were nice and big, and convienently located, meant for a person like me w/ big hands (i know... here comes the ball busting). the New one is much smaller, and shape is totally different, it feels flimsy, the buttons are real cheezy as well, a cheap plastic design, I feel like i'm gonna break 'em. my thumb winds up in an uncomfortable position to use the buttons (Like sticking up all the time).
I personally gotta give MS a thumbs up for the quick turnaround, and for 'overcompensating' me for my wait, but i'm gonna be trading this puppy off for the old version in the FS/T forum.
Honestly, the Optical Wheel mouse looks like the EXACT same mouse, just a different color, and w/2 buttons, side by side, its the same size and shape. Oh well, what can a boy do. This really sux, i'm gonna try and fix the old one i guess.
I know the tracking in games is supposed to be better, but I ain't a gamer, except the Need for Speed Series, and I got a sSteering Wheel for that!
and yes, I AM that picky..... :(

I have had a total of 3 now die on me. MS always replaces them for free though, so that's cool. Sucks to have to go through the trouble of calling them every 6 months though to get a new one.

<< My 2nd one (intellimouse Explorer) just died, EXACT same symptoms as yours for a few days before.
The other one I have is going on 2 years, and no problems. I was quite surprised w/ how they handled it....
E-mailed Tech Support Moday afternoon, and they quickly realized that i wasn't the average Joe Computer User. they guaranteed me a replacement by the end of this week, and even called me today, to verify my shipping address, and let me know that they were shipping it FedEx Express. They're also sending a Pre-Paid Box to send the old one back! No questions asked, they replaced it. I was actually gonna post a thread about my 'great' costumer service dealing w/microsoft. They're sending me a brand new Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, and a few extra PS/2 adapters for good measure!
Funny, it seemed like Microsoft actually CARED about a Customer! They're ok in my book, for now! ;)
Ironic, I bought it at CrapUSA w/a free 1 year unconditional in-store warranty, and the day after the warranty ran out, it died!

<< Should've bought a Logitech Optical Wireless ;) >>

I have one of those Logical Optical Wireless', the one that comes with the black wireless keyboard.. and I don't use it. I prefer my Intellimouse Optical over it because it's much more programmable,a nd has the one extra button which is great for any game IMO.

I've replaced mine once.. :(

Dude, turn off yer caps lock! ;)
I went to the Microsoft Tech Support/Customer Care Website, and submitted a query, it took a few days for them to get back to me, but they'll 'review' your case, approve it or deny it, then take it from there. If it's your first RMA they'll ask u for some personal info (Name, Phone, Shipping Addy) but nothing more than an online vendor will get out of ya.
I was amazed at how fast, nice and courteous MS's customer care support people are.
I'm really not happy w/ the 3.0 mouse, but that's part of the warranty plan. They also pre-register your replacement mouse warranty for you. Kinda nice, i guess, but if I ever wanna sell it or trade it I dont think it is transferrable.

Heh, it's amazingly easy to get Microsoft to replace your mouse... they don't even want the old one back. They just take down your info and send you a new mouse. I've had to replace two now. On one, the cord got pulled out. On the second, the primary button got worn out.

Can't remember what the number was, but I'm sure someone else knows it. It was something like Microsoft Parts and systems replacement.

The problem with the mice is that the cord severs right around where it enters the mouse. What I did was call MS had them send me a replacement (the smaller one which I hate) and I switched cords (they plug in on the inside) viola', my mouse is good as new.

Well after I found out it was going to take two weeks for my new one to arrive, I went out and bought a intellimouse explorer....

So I guess in a few weeks, i'll have two as well...... :(

Nice that they replace them, sucks that it takes sooo long!
