Anyone ever have a close family member go to prison?

I just did, I won't say who, or how close but I don't know what to think of it. He's gone for 18 months or something like that, nonviolent crime....minimum security fed prison. I think I could sleep better at night if I knew he was at the minimum security place as opposed to the maximum security place they are holding him until it's time to head down south. He, or anyone else for that matter, have no idea how long he's going to be stuck there.

Yes, the punishment fits the crime, and yes I do think he deserved to be punished, but I can't help worrying for him.....

Closest for me is cousin - drugs and attempted murder (it was self defense but with a much more powerful and illegal weapon - which makes it legally not self defense). He went to juvenile prison.

A couple of my cousins went to prison for stupid crap (theft, drug running.) I don't mean that it's stupid they were sent for the offenses, I mean that they were stupid jackasses for doing it in the first place.

I was trialled once but didn't go to jail (and didn't spend any time there) for possession of an unregistered weapon. I might also go to jail for other stuff in near future. But I'm not afraid of it.

Wife's cousin is in jail for murder 1 or 2, I can't remember. He's been in there ever since I've known her, which is 10 years.

Sorry, I'm not going to speak of what he did. I will say it was more of a white-collar crime. That wasn't the point of this thread.

donlondon- You're a jackass....

Yeah, but he didn't go to a Federal Pound You In The Ass Prison...it was a minimum security prison...

Also known as "Club Fed".

EXACTLY, but while he is wating to be shipped down there he is being held at the max security prison up here in Anchorage. It could be worse, it's a max-security prison, but it's more of a holding station. But after this, he goes to Seattle to the medium security facility, AND THEN to Club Fed.

Uncle was in for 2 years for Assault & Battery along with drug possesion w/ intent to sell.

He's clean, now, and has been that way for 5 years. Awesome guy to hang out with, and as honest and down-to-earth as they get.

I just don't know how to feel or react. I guess I can tell you guys so you understand where I'm coming from....he's my twin brother. So I guess that's why I'm worrying about him more than the average family member. We aren't terribly close, but the longest we've not been "by each other's side" is like 6 months. So now I'm left with not BSing with him for 18months. It's like for the next 18months I'm not a twin anymore.

and now you cant say your him when you get in trouble anymore 😉

it will go by quick enough. just go visit him. people hate when they dont get visited when they locked up

I have a cousin who broke into someone's house and got caught hiding in a closet when the owners came home unexpectedly. I think he was sentenced to 12 months in prison but I am not sure how much time he actually did.

this might be a super messed up comment, but i have to wonder..

if he gets butt loved, will you feel it too? if your butt feels funny, you will know why.

on a seroius note, i hope everything works out.

Super-messed up? Yeah...only SLIGHTLY. I don't know if you expected to get a laugh or if you just wanted to show everyone that you're an idiot.

My uncle went to jail for a while for growing pot (for sale, not personal use) at his house. Come to think of it, most of my uncles have been in jail at some point. One got caught driving drunk a lot of times... never showed up for his court appearances, went to jail each time... various other crimes. One uncle is a fugitive at the moment... non-payment of child support I think. My aunt disappeared 2 months ago, no one really knows where she is... huh.

They all live in Alabama. 🙂

My brother went to prison for like 18 months or so. He was chased by the cops across a golf course while driving a V6 Magna or magnum (the badass motorcycle of the mid-late eighties), the cops basically ran over him and the bike and found all kinds of stolen stuff in his apartment including stuff that was stolen from my Mom and I (he broke into my van trashed the console to get the stereo). he also stole my AR-15 and Colt 45 pistol that dad gave me on my 18th birthday 90% of what had been stolen from my mom was never recovered, old Morgans that was given to her at her three sons. Even recovered some of our neighbors stuff

When I went to prison top visit him he wanted to me try and sneak in some pot by putting it down the front of my pants. Here I am 18 and he wants to risk my being busted to bruing pot into a prison. I said "f*ck 'em and never went back.

Now he is a great brother and son to my mom. Even though it is never spoken I think he has been trying hard for years to make up to everyone in the family that he had wronged.

Time changes everything

p.s. When he was chased and apprehanded at the Country Club golf course , there was a write up in the local paper titled....

"Two drive on course withour club" 🙂

I have an uncle, in his 70's that is just getting out. He went to jail acouple of years ago for assualt with a deadly weapon when he got into a case of roadrage while driving under the influence. Sucked for him, but he deserved it.... the sentence/time in prison will probably have NO EFFECT on him probably.

Running from the cops on a motorcycle, and then getting busted at the golf course? Didn't he see the change of clothes icon at the door? That would have reduced his wanted level.
