anyone ever got their license back after revocation?

Sounds like you need to move to a different state and get a license there. 😛

they can still hold you up from getting your license back, they tie it to your SS number and they can and will put a hold on it preventing you from renewing or getting a DL in another state. My ex-wife found out the hard way after she moved up near me.

I got lucky. I had gotten a speeding ticket just before I moved out of texas and got a MO DL before it caught up with me. I've been pulled over a couple of times since then and no mention of the outstanding tkt.

i think you need a lawyer who knows what the laws are and can tell you what to reasonably expect. i had a relative who got his license suspended after he was pulled over making a u turn with his lights off in the middle of the night. he tried to get his license back unsuccessfully just by going to court on his own. he paid a lawyer around $4000 and he did get his license back. interestingly he was a heart surgeon. so in this society they would trust you to do surgery but not trust you to drive????

4k is too many k.

are you saying you think he was overcharged or are you saying you dont think its worth 4000 to get your license back. for most people it would be worth it if they need to earn a living...

i also dont think it is worth the time to try to legal things yourself. the amount of time that you would spend researching the law and preparing things would be ridiculous. it would be far more cost effective to just hire someone who knows what they are doing and save yourself a lot of time and aggravation, which is what dealing with courts is

as someone who uses attorneys almost continuously i can tell you that there is often no correlation between the attorney's fees and how useful he is. the most important thing is to have someone who is experienced in the area you need help in, not where he went to school or how "prestigious" his firm is

You can still get an ID; you can always try again and hope that someone is less of an ass and how many times do you have to pay the no-license fine before you end up charged 4grand?!

That lawyer must have spent way to much time on this case; or your relative lied about why he got the minor traffic violation that ended up with the suspended license.

yeah you may be right, it seems odd that someone would lose their license over that. maybe he had a bunch of points on his record. i can tell you though, he got NOWHERE in court on his own. he would be biking to work today if he hadnt hired an attorney

Or, as the OP did, just drive around without the license and then pay the fine if he got caught.

It is easy to say "sorry, forgot my license, my name is Larry and I'm borrowing my brother's car"

definitely more to his story then like leaving out while making that U-turn with no lights that he plowed down 3 kids and blew a .18.

Here you go. These guys say they've been successful more than 95% of the time in suspension/revocation restoration. That they'll give you a free consultation. That, if they don't succeed, they'll represent you free each year until they do succeed.

I'm sure they're not the only firm that deals with license restoration. Might at least be worth looking into.

Good luck!

Thanks for the link. They sound like exactly what I need.

As far as their 95% success rate, that sounds about right. Not to sound grandiose or anything...but even if they do cherry pick, I should be a good client to help boost their numbers.

And this is just one more step in the process. Just for this past DUI alone I had $1500 in court fees, $700 for "treatment" and $500 in lawyers fees. I'm well aware that my insurance rates will be nuts (last time it was $750/6 months of PLPD), plus I'll be looking at $250 license restoration fee and $75/month if they say I have to have an interlock device(which is almost a sure thing).

I'm posting all this publicly to hopefully put a bit of fear into people. Its not just a night in jail and some fines. DUI's haunt you for years. Hell they brought up a BAC under 21 charge I had when I was 18.

🙁

The lawyer from that website just called back. He sounds like he knows what he's doing but he also wants $2500.

Looks like I'm going to have to go it alone. I can't afford that much 🙁

$2500 isnt much for making sure something gets done correctly. attorneys fees can vary a lot, you could probably find someone who would do it for a lot less, or a lot more. and screw anyone who criticizes you for drunk driving
