Anyone ever get a ticket for parking on their front lawn?

My roommate just did and he's so pissed. 25 bucks. The ticket was from about 40 minutes ago, and I thought it was kind of crazy. Couldn't they just ask him to move it first? Sneaky Petes

Yes, our own rented front lawn.

at night we park in the garage. I guess sometimes during the day he gets lazy. We have a 3rd roommate who parks in the driveway in front which is 1 car wide. He can get out if the other car is pulled into the lwan some.

negatory on the trailer park

edit: but ya I can see the point of the ordinance for aesthetic reasons, it's just that we're college students, this isn't our town, no sense of community, and we really don't care too much

I would press charges on the officer who entered your property to ticket it. He was tresspassing.

One of your neighbors probably complained. Flaming bags of poop are in order.

My brother in law got a ticket for parking in his own driveway.

Apparently he was partially blocking the sidewalk... he hadn't pulled in fully cause we were unloading topsoil into wheelbarrows.

There was no warning then either... cop pulls up...doesn't get out of his car until he walks over and slips the ticket under the wiperblade. Then he gets back in the car and leaves having never said a word to anyone.

I don't recall how much the fine was...but not enough to fight it since it wasn't any points.

Which, along with preventing people from turning their lawns into rental parking lots, is probably exactly why they have such an ordinance.

the ticket might have been because some part of the car was sticking out over the footpath. I have had that happen to me once while parked in a friend's driveway.

Yeah, ya think? That's why I asked about the trailer park... because you're making the neighborhood look like a trailer park.

My whole street got ticketed few years ago. The houses are at one edge of the street so everyone parks on that side, every car that was turning the wrong way in this low traffic street got ticketed. Happened once, never happened again even though like before everyone parks just like they want.

Park in the driveway or on the street. Why would you part on the front lawn anyway? Lazy bum.

I agree, the street is a better option. Not to mention the 2 car garage out back.

I just learned the cop was on a horse. How awesome is that?

yes, but
it wasn't a ticket from the police, it was a "notice" from code enforcement or some such dept. of the city
