Was it noticeable? Problem is my dentist doesn't see anything so it's going to be difficult to diagnose, that's my biggest worry.

Oh yeah, a chunk of my tooth came off. If you have a fracture but the tooth is otherwise healthy they may be able to repair that fairly easily.

Mine didn't show up on a x-ray either. The densest used some little hard plastic thing with, pyramids shaped points on both sides. Put it in between some teeth and had me bite down on it to try and track it down. He eventually found which tooth it was doing this.

oui. basically you have to do root canal + crown.

for Molars in the back that are not very visible, go with the metal crowns, stronger and cheaper.

Root canal isn't always necessary. It depends on whether the root itself has been compromised. Much better and cheaper if it hasn't.

I cracked two of my abck molars playing football back in college. Literally broke them in half. Hurt like a bitch, but all was fine after 2 crowns.

Gold is not a bad option for a non-aesthetically sensitive area like the molars. Gold is incredibly strong, and rarely breaks (unlike porcelein fused to metal).

I know this is a very old thread but OP, how did you get on? What was the outcome? I have just been diagnosed with this 'cracked tooth syndrome' and my dentist can't find the crack :-(
It hurts when I bite down on certain things / in a certain way. X Ray shows nothing. Dentist can't even confirm which tooth it is. She made me bite down on the plastic thing but I can't recreate the pain in the chair (I tried my best at two separate appointments!)

She said we'll have to leave it for now but I'm scared leaving it will make it worse. I clench my teeth in my sleep, I really don't want to loose the tooth! Apparently implants can be difficult for people who grind / clench in their sleep.

Hoping for some encouraging words....
