Anyone ever drop a disposible camera into water?

My son dropped a disposible camera into the water at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge yesterday while trying to take a picture of a flamingo. A resort worker retrieved the camera about 10 minutes later and I shook the water out and let it dry. It still takes pictures and the flash works too. Do you think the pitures on it were ruined?

I don't care about the camera, I just want to know if the shots I already took will come out. I used it one of the days I was there because I forgot my digital at the hotel.

They should be fine, but you need to inform the photo lab what happened.

Ideally, if the camera gets wet and you are sure the film inside has gotten wet, you should transfer it to a container of clean tap water and take it to the photo lab like that. It would have to be a real photo lab where people still handle film in the dark, though, not one of those walmart minilabs where they wouldn't know what to do with it.

The concern is that if the emulsion of the film got wet and then was dried, the roll of film will stick to itself and be ruined as soon as the gomer at the minilab tries to unspool it.

Basically at this point, you've already set your course, so you'll have to follow it and let us know the results. Out of curiosity though, why would you not immediately take the camera to a processor if the contents were so important?

Well, at first I almost laughed but didn't since my 7yr old son was crying his eyes out over it. Then I assumed that the film was ruined so I just shook the water out and set it in the sun to dry. I wouldn't say that the contents are all that important. Some shots of the kids and maybe one of Snow White and my daughter. Just one afternoon's worth of Epcot.
