I have what my buddy calls an "Evil" Celeron 2. it's a 533 (66 mhz fsb)that i've got stable at 992 (124 x 8, with the voltage at 1.8) on an Abit SE6. I was just wondering if anyone's ever sucessfully Double overclocked one (133 x 8 = 1064mhz). If so, What suggestions could you give me, i know it sounds crazy, but just have to ask, i'm convinced that i can!! I get it to 1016 (127 x 8), and it hangs on post...... I don't think my RAM is the holdback, it's Memman Infineon PC-150 @ Cas2.
Cooling really isn't a problem either(have an old alpha PAL w/a panaflo H1A), it runs around 90-100 degrees (f), maybe a few more in some games.
Any ideas, or suggestions would be cool!
or maybe i'm just crazy!!
Thanx,
Matt

look here on this auction. I've seen many like this, I think from the same person and I was wondering if it's possible too. I've seen other ones selling 600 @ 1200 celerons. I don't know.. pretty nuts if you ask me. Do a search for celerons on e6ay and you'll see what i mean. They are always there.

I've seen these before, and a buddy of mine bought a Duron/KT7 and Ram Combo from Overclockers.com, guaranteed to hit 1050, and it wouldn't even post over 900.

I'm not complaining, but, I'm so almost there!!
my 533 @ 992 aint bad, i was just wondering if anyone's actually gotten a complete 'double overclock' (twice the original clock speed).
call me crazy, but i think it can be done.
i don't think it's my FSB/AGP it's actually running under spec (124 / 4)
Any Ideas??

<< 124 x 8, with the voltage at 1.8 >>

that a dang good overclock...

anyway have you tryed raising the voltage above 1.8? Although this would make the voltage a little high, you should be ok if you have some "really really good" cooling. :)

although many advise against it, I have seen some people get the extra mhz they were looking for
by raising the voltage over 1.8/1.85.

Do the "pin trick" to get 2.05V. That'll get ya there definitely. :) Just do a search on that or look at hardocp.com. I think they did a writeup on it.

My P3-933 runs at 1.95VCore 24/7. Been that way for over a year now and it has never given me a problem. It just keeps on kicking.

Hell, even Intel spec'd the max voltage that they'd give to a chip at 2.0V. So running it at that should be fine.

Besides, it's just a Celeron. :D No harm in making a keychain out of it.

Cool, thanx guys. I should be thankful it's @992, but for some reason i just gotta see it post @1064, then i'll be happy!!
I was nervous about going over 1.8,
but you're right <it's only a celeron>
and i do collect cool keychains!!
HEHE!!

when you sold it to me it was, and i quote "the best heatsink since sliced bread"
and i agree, 'cause sliced bread on a processor, toasts the bread, and the processor!!

Hmmmm........

I've heard of cooking on a car engine before, but on my CPU.....
I think we're on to something.

I'll sell the microwave, and use the cash for more PC stuffs to cook, and play, off of. ;)

My 533 Celeron could hit 1034 MHz @ 1.95 volts.

I used a thin copper plate ("cold plate") sandwiched between the Taisol 3092 hsf and cpu to get it above 952. The metal surfaces were lapped to a near mirror finish with Artic Silver used between the mating surfaces.

WOW Cool.......
What Mobo/Ram you using??
I was wondering about those plates, and how much they really helped.......
i don't have a major issue with heat, but going up to 1.95v or even 2.0v would definately increase the heat, considerably. I may just have to buy one!!

Sorry for the late reply.

The ram was some PC 100 Siemens (Infineon) in a Aopen AX6BC EZ (Shopps computer - Hot Deals).

The copper plate was cut from sheet stock obtained from a hobby shop.

I had one that would do 940MHz, but my PC100 was pushing it at the bus speed required to get there. 920MHz was stable, and 896MHz was where I ran it due to cooling.

You are doing great with the speed your getting now.

Thanx, Man.
I can't figure this one out, I switched the Processor in this rig to a P3 700 get it to 933 and it runs fine. Everything's in spec, where it needs to be, to run my music software. But now my memory bandwidth is terrible. I went from scores of 442 (in sandra) to scores of 194-200. I was using 2 Sticks of 128mb Memman Infineon PC-150, running @ 133 Cas 2, which worked great w/the celeron. I can't figure it out!! I switched RAM w/ a stick of some Hyudai chips of 256 PC-133
at Cas2 and same thing.
DOH!!
EDIT- I figured it out, i read the book, some Double Sided Dimms wont run @ Cas2 correctly. Got a stick of single sided in there, and my scores, and stability are back to where they were!! Users Guide?? What's that?? I'm a MORON!!! :p
