anyone ever done shots of everclear?

i dont understand why people think tolerance comes from their heritage.

i can understand if you were talking about your nose or eyes, but a tolerance is built personally.

The only night I drank shots of Everclear, my apartment burnt down. (Cause still unknown). Needless to say, I have not done it again.

People of certain nationalities tend to have similar physical traits. Take a look at most Indian's (Native Americans, not Indian-subcontinent). They cant handle alcohol worth sh!t, due to their genetic make-up. OTOH, freshman year when you are in college there will be at least one or two kids on your dorm floor who can drink everyone else on the floor under the table, no problem. Usually, these kids turn out to be either:
-Irish
-German
-or Russian

Unless you just want to be macho and enjoy pain, there is no reason.
At least 151 actually has a flavor other than pure alchol.
Everclear is great for making cheap mixed drinks though.

I don't think Everclear was meant for shots but by all means go ahead and down it if you like the burning sensation. I don't think Everclear is illegal but if it is, head to your local Safeway and buy their version called Clearever. 😀

Believe it or not, everclear is my drink of choice. I usually start the night off with a single shot of it, then leave the house and hit the bars/restaurants/parties/whatever. It's a great night-starter. Gets you nice and primed and saves you money in the long run. It's freaking cheap here and very easy to get. If you do a single shot, prepare to hold your face in place with your hands. It seems like you lose control and your face twists and contorts from the "experience" 😀 The most I've taken is a double shot at once, and I probably wouldn't do that again unless I'm already drunk, or trying to forget the night. Having a long island with half the coke and two shots of everclear is one hell of a drink (and the best drink that I've ever had). 🙂

Everclear is some of the nastiest stuff I've ever drank, and I've drank some pretty raunchy alcohol before...
Never again will I drink Everclear straight up. BLARGH!!!!!!!!!

The labels on the bottles that are available here have HUGE warnings on them that everclear is not meant for straight consumption and that it should only be used in a mix. It also warns that it is HIGHLY flamable and not to have any sort of flame near the drink. 😀 😀 😀

Yes, I have done a shot of 95% ethanol and I got drunk.

Everclear is devilspawn. As has been previously said, it's great for mixed drinks because it has absolutely no flavor, and is the strongest alcohol you can legally buy. However, taking it straight will hurt. I don't care what anyone says about chasing regular shots; if you don't chase a shot of everclear with SOMETHING, then I worry about your sanity.

95% Ethanol is the highest concentration safe for human consumption. 100% Ethanol has traces of benzene or possibly other organic solvents in it.

alright... so don't do it straight... although i'll have to try. more for the experience than anything else. anyways, anyone have any drink recipies.

i stumbled on this while looking to see if i could purchase the stuff online. it's called "instant death"

Instant Death
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ingredients:
3 oz Bacardi 151 proof rum
3 oz Everclear
3 oz Jägermeister
5 oz Water
1 dash Salt
Mixing instructions:
Put in all alcohol first and water last, then salt

Take a full water mellon, cut a hole at the top, pour bottle of Everclear in. replace 'cork', sit overnight. Cut, enjoy.
