Anyone ever done and all inclusive trip to Cancun?

I can get a 7 day trip for $699 staying at the Oasis hotel resort. Is that a decent price? This inlcudes airfare from Cleveland, Ohio.

seems decent for all inclusive, but call a travel agent and see what they say it could be a hole in the wall dump with eggs on the buffet all day and recycled seawater as rum. I've been to Sandals twice, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone, but I've heard horror stories about some all inclusives that you'd rather go out to eat, and the liquor is horrid.

yes....things to know before u go down

1) dont bring ANYTHING that u wouldn't want stolen (obviously u have to bring a wallet, etc)
2) passport is not necessary, u can use your birth cert.
3) bring LOTS of $1 bills...trust me on this...use them to tip at the bar, a mexican bartender sees a GW down there and goes nuts...
4) dont get caught by the cops trying to sneak into other peoples hotels...they will bribe you to pay cash to get out of jail
5) you're not there for good accomodations or food, so dont complain, just drink a lot and have a good time with your buddies

I did. I forget the Hotel I stayed in, but it was really nice. The hotel had a nice bar, and all drinks and food are totally free. A good thing to do (if you're on a budget) is to go to some of those timeshare meetings, and just to watch a 30 minute movie, they will give you free passes to like anything. We got a free trip to Chichen Itza (DEFINATELY GO TO THAT!) just by watching a timeshare seminar thingy...

Chichen Itza was probably the most amazing thing I have seen in my life. Take a camera.

Also, the markets in Cancun are nice and everything is cheap, but if you take a bus further away from the Hotels.... stuff gets cheaper and cheaper. Also take a few hats with you of whatever pro teams are winning this year. When I went, I traded my Chicago Bulls hat for a $40 chess set.

There are a few Oasis resorts in Cancun. Which are you staying at?

I stayed at the Oasis Cancun. Will not do so in the future.

Why? The Oasis Cancun is situated close to a sewage treatment plant. On most nights, you wouldn't even notice it. Unfortunately, I think the plant was doing maintenance one night, because whole area near the hotel smelled like a fricking sewer. Not just outside the building, but ***inside the hotel rooms as well***. Basically, the sewage smell got into their HVAC, and permeated into the rooms.

Couldn't sleep through the stench, so I called the front desk to get another room. Their feedback: It wouldn't matter, all the rooms are afflicted by the odor.

For the most part, the Oasis Cancun is a fine place to stay: good food, quiet beach (but within close proximity to the busier parts), reasonable rooms. However...

Yeah, there are several Oasises (Oasii?)...I stayed at one years ago. Pretty ghetto. It's the place all the high school senior trips stay at. So if you want to stay with a bunch of drunk 17-18 year olds, it's the place to be.

EDIT: The Oasis I'm talking about has a huge pool...like 1/2 mile long. That's the only discerning feature I can remember. Oh, and it's slanted on the beach facing side.

Oh yeah! Another vote for DO NOT DRINK THE WATER!

Cancun uses purified water, so you can in Cancun. But when we went outside of Cancun and ate... we got the WORST stomach pain in the world... It was terrible... but still worth the trip.

Drink bottled water... or anything pre-packaged.

Haha...I drank the water in Cancun, ate the fruit, ate at all the tiny little ghetto Mexican restaurants, and was fine. Two of the guys I was with ate Domino's pizza and got food poisoning. I couldn't stop laughing at them to feel sorry.

The Oasis is pretty nice and it's one of the more popular beaches. People pay to walk through the hotel to get to that beach and there are always DJs and giveaways and such.

Other than that, it's a decent price although if you are over 21 I can't imagine why you would go to Cancun.

If that includes your flight, then it sounds like a good deal, depending on your hotel. We stayed in the Royal Solaris (All Inclusive), which was I would imagine was middle of the road. The hotel itself was nice inside and out (pool) but the actual room wasn't as nice. We went in May and it was so humid the tile floor always seemed wet. I had a hard time using my electric shaver too since it wanted to stick because of the humidity. I remember before we went I found a forum were people talked about vacations to Cancun. Good info on good/bad hotels. Can't remember the address though.
Our drinks at the hotel were weak until we complained. We noticed some people had different colored armbands. They denied it at first but my GF raised total hell until they switched our armbands to get better quality drinks. Not sure how they decide who gets which.
The Cancun airport tore a suitcase up and played dumb when we confronted them.

We had a good time and I'd like to go back. Gotta run. I'll post more details later.

i remember the oasis. yeah its kinda ghetto, but its a good place for college students. lots of hos. right on the beach. you could do worse. i stayed right next door at the Gran Melia hotel. If you want a nice place, stay there.

the Oasis Cancun is the best hotel in cancun.. 1/4 mile pool with swim up pool bars .. huge beach... it's great.. I went there and stayed in the Oasis Grand... it was 5* with a bar in the room that was constantly refreshed etc...

the other Oasis hotels ie. the Oasis playa and other are not as good.. that's were all the college students go..
