Not entirely true. Whatever the liver cannot process at any given time (usually 1 drink per hour for a 160lb male) is inserted directly into the bloodstream.Originally posted by: TerryMathews
I'm no expert, but I'd think you wouldn't want to deposit drinking alcohol into your bloodstream, as it goes through all sorts of processing in the digestive tract.

Absurd as it may sound, IV alcohol is a recognised medical treatment. Although I suspect the medical preparation is purer and less strong than vodka, as well as being isotonic and appropriately buffered.

Do it and let us know how it goes. You won't care that you are a dumbass when you have the brain damage going. "Yay alcohol is so cool yay!"

Yup, I have a great uncle that's an alcoholic. I believe he had an IV when he was in the hospital.

A word of advice when you try this: be right outside the emergency room when the drip starts...Originally posted by: TheBDB
My friend got the bright idea while drinking some nasty raspberry vodka that it would be much easier to get buzzed if you could get the alcohol straight into your bloodstream instead of orally. I suppose you could mix everclear with a salt or sugar solution to dilute it and let it drip in. Does this sound safe, or an idea that could work?
(Note: This is her crazy idea, not mine 😀)
Yeah, they better make a reservation at the ER.Originally posted by: TheCorm
