anyone ever change their LEDs on your phone and get no reception?

i came back from the philippines on july 4th (was at lax a few hours after the shooting btw) and my phone had no reception. i thought it was just cuz i had cingular and i didnt think anything of it (sad isnt it).

anyway i go home and i still get no reception... a little fishy but it happens from time to time. the next day i go to my friend's house and i still have no reception. something is definately up, and it's confirmed when all my friends have full reception. i switch sim cards and my phone gets none while my friends still get 3/4 bars.

im sure it's the LEDs but my cousins over there and some people i know over here have changed LEDs without any problem. has this happened to anyone here or anyone you know of? anyway to fix it?

thx

What phone do you have and check your antenna.

For 8000 series, check under the back top cover, which has to be pried off. The metal piece is your antenna. Bend it so it touches the contacts.

My phone's mad tight, yo! It's got Blue LEDs, and it's painted the same color blue that NOS bottles are, yo.. And I got a type R sticker - adds 2 reception bars, it's hella cool!

i really dont think it can be fixed. thats a risk you take when you put new leds on the phone. i know people here that tell me when they do it they cant guarantee they wont fry your phone lol.

way to contribute..

i had no problems when i put the blue leds in my phone.. (4 wasnt working but i cleaned that up).. only thing i would suggest is to take it to an electronics shop that does installs (reputable) and ask them if they can figure out the problem.

doesn't hurt to check to make sure the pins for the antenna are making contact with the metal plate thing.. 🙂 good luck

maybe I am, but you're the one who paid money to turn your phone into a glowing blue paperweight.

Let install in the Philippines is pretty cheap, but you have to go someplace reputable.

Sorry to hear your 3390 go to waste.

Different LEDs wouldn't hurt the phone, but an incompetently wielded soldering iron would. That's what I suspect the problem is.

i think this might turn for the better... my parents now have a good excuse to switch to a better cell phone plan (i.e. anything but cingular) 🙂

I'm sure they will be overwhelmed by your concern for them.

actually my mom wanted to switch already, but i was hesitant because i like the plan (free nights/weekends/text/mobile 2 mobile).
