Anyone ever buy tires from walmart?

I'm looking to buy some new tires for my car, but I don't need anything great seeing as it has nearly 200k miles. The ones I'm looking at are Goodyear Viva 2's, and I guess only walmart sells them, which makes it kinda hard to find reviews. I checked at our local walmart tonight and I can get them installed for 37.50 per tire, + tax. Seems like a good deal for goodyears, but who knows. Does anybody have these tires, or know anything about the quality of work walmart does? (im guessing not the best) Any info would be great, thanks

EDIT: heres a pic of the tire tread

I don't trust Walmart with my car. My friend got his oil changed and they only put 1 qt in his car. Also, just after I got mine changed there, my car broke down.

It could be a coincidence, but I'd rather not take chances.

Bought tires at Sams Club once...

They installed the tires that I bought on someone else's car - so they had to re-install my tires and they gave the other guy better tires for whatever he paid... plus they gave me a discount for the hassle... I forget the price but it was a great deal and the tires were OK.

I got 2 becaus eI had a double blowout in the dells and needed them replaced. (the tread seperated. The tire still miraculously held air) I drove to wally world and had the new tires put on. Seem to be doing fine so far.

tires usually stay pressurized when the tread separates.

never have....they have to special order my size and it takes too damned long....one car needs 16 225 45s (i believe), and the other is 17 245 45s

not when you continue to drive on it for almost 30 miles 😛

Lay off the pork chops fat a$$ 😛

If you just want soem good basic tires look for the Douglas brand at Wal-Mart. They are major name brand tires just with douglas on the side. So name brand tires at a very low price.

Walmart - cheap prices paid for by lack of service.
If the slightly cheaper prices are worth it to you, go for it

I fvckin hate Walmart with every cell in my body...I could care less that they rape the small businesses in every town they move in to...just hire some more fvcking cashiers!!!

I also noticed at Sams club that they sell tire models that aren't listed on the manufactures websites. I would guess they are old tech or :specially made for walmart"models...yikes

I've also heard this.

YMMV on walmart doing oil changes basically the same as if you go to jiffy lube place, etc. It's not like walmart trains them on how to conserve oil and only put a quart in because they aren't responsible if the motor blows up:frown:

I believe I have those Viva's on my car now. Please stay away from them. God those are the crappiest fvcking tires I've ever driven on. They don't grip worth a crap is all I have to say about them. For about $12 more a piece you can get some Goodyear Allegras - those are 10x better, wish I had 4 of those on my car :|

I have the Viva 2 tires on one of my vehicles. I ***don't*** like the tires. They are not very good in wet weather. I've had them now for about 8 months, so I can't comment on how good they are in snow and ice - but, I'll soon find out. My guess is that they'll not perform very well in those conditions either.

Like another poster has indicated, check out Costco. You might want to increase your tire budget a bit. Another $20 a tire should get you much better tires. I'd rather spend $80 more for 4 tires than to have to pay a $500 insurance deductable if I were to get into an accident due to bad tires. Clearly, I made a bad move in getting these Viva 2 tires for my vehicle.
