ANyone ever been to a Korean restaurant?

The funniest part was that it was kind of a dump and in a terrible neighborhood. But, man, did they cook up some mean Korean food. My dad says they've moved locations since I left NO, so maybe they're in a nicer place now. They were always very popular, so I'm sure they have enough money to afford a move.

Anyways, their whole fried snapper was AWESOME. Also, if it's not busy and you'll a large group, the owner will happily cook up stuff off the top of his head...just tell him the sort of stuff (vegetarian, no red meat, seafood lover, etc) each person likes, and he'll start cookin'

Definitely one of my favorite quirky restaurants.

yes. it also depends on how busy they are and how many waiter/waitresses they have on staff.

they either have a built in grill on the table or they bring out little gas grills to the tables.

once the waitress started cooking for us, but she was busy and didn't come back often enough. i enjoy cooking (and don't like burnt food), so i just took over and cooked it.

oh, crap i forgot i was in Dallas this past summer for a basketball tournament.

here's a Korean restaurant we ate at:

Sura Korean Bistro

it was in a plaza called "Asian Plaza". It was pretty nice there. I don't know the area, so i have clue where it is.

j/k, i will look into that place and may very well try it out. Im on an asian tip. Had Thai last nite, i always do japanese, but want to try this korean, sounds great

Yup, Korea House in Santa Clara, CA is not bad. My friends and I eat there all the time.

j/k it was actually a Korean basketball tournament. there were some good ballers out there from various states. i've never seen so many Korean people who could dunk, let alone windmill and throw it off the backboard :Q

Korean food is great, but like any ethnic flava they've got their oddities. Putting a raw egg into soup or using squid ink as a base comes to mind (yuck!) I tend to stay away from things like tongue and tripe too.


Korean BBQ is the shiz though. Spicy and garlic - man, now I'm hungry too.

I think someone else named it, Korea House. It was damn good.

The place is near some sort of school of Asian Medicine.

I can't remember what I had, but it was something my mom used to make when I was living with them. Super spicy and super good.

Oh yeah, beef bul-go-gi is a safe thing to get. You'll like it.

The sushi bar is the focus of activity in the space, and they offer a complete line of delectable and fresh sushi and sashimi. Although some diners feel the quality can fluctuate here, we have always found our old friend Korea House to be delicious and dependable.

Being asian, I have to disagree with everybody here. Korean food in general is just not good, it's not terrible like Japanese food but it's not something to look forward to.

I use to go to a Korean BBQ joint in the Berryessa Area of San Jose a few years ago. The food was good and it was always crowded at lunchtime. My favorite was the Shrimp. The Kimchi tasted good too but when you burped afterwards you could clear out the room and melt the paint on the wall.

Yes, there is.
Koreana on SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy (on the north side between Jameson and Western, just west of the McCormicks and Schmicks). It's small and tucked into a corner, a little hard to find.
There's also a nice Korean BBQ place (forget the name) on SE Powell just west of 82nd.

Japanese food is terrible??

korean bbq is alright... we have a fake one around here run by chinese people. mass amounts of meat. its kinda gross really. but eating beef hot, straight off the grill is really good. for the first couple bowls.

yes... korean bbq and some tofu soup stuff. the korean kids at my school love it. it was alright to me, nothing particularly special imo.

There is a Korean barbeque place not far from here, as well as a Vietnamese and Thai restaurants. We have been to the Thai place already and the Korean bbq is next.

Chinese and Japanese are frequent stops for us as well, the kids really like the Japanese steakhouse.
