Anyone ever been to a family camp before?

sounds like a place where troubled married couples go to "Reconnect"

When I was a kid, I was DYING to go to a summer camp, but never got the chance. I would have very much liked the atmosphere.

$210 per night seems pretty ridiculous. Why not just take your kids on a real camping trip for a fraction of the cost.

Probably because there are counselors who will act as temporary babysitters when mom&dad want to go water the buffalo

Like a cruise ship on land 🙂

I suppose $210 a night isn't bad for four people. Especially if you want a resort experience, which is pretty much what this is.

If you want to go camping camping, it will be a lot cheaper. You can probably rent an RV for less too depending on when you're planning on going.

I have never heard that euphemism for sex, but now I'm using it.

You can definitely rent an RV for less than $210 a day.

I basically spend every summer weekend at family camp. My wife and I have a seasonal campsite on a lake in Maine. We love it. Would I pay $210 a night for it? No. But when you divide the seasonal fee by the number of days we go, it comes out to ~$45/night + food. Not bad.

I saw they have all-you-can eat buffets. Is that some sort of fat camp?

Maybe they have XXL canoes too? 😀

Seriously though, that looks like fun and the price isn't bad either considering the amenities, plus it's Lake Tahoe! Let us know how it goes.

OP, get some tents/camping gear and take your family camping.

NOTE: first few times will be rough. Remember, more you do it, more easier it gets. At first it was a struggle for us, but after 3-5 trips we all enjoy it greatly. Now Camping = our favorite type of vacation. We go at least 4-5 times a year.

Key to successful camping is selecting a spot prior to your camping trip. Lot of camp sites have awful campsites that are WAY too close to each other.

We usually go select one > book on Reserve America 6 months - 1 year in advance....they book up FAST (especially good sites).

Also, bring ear plugs.....

Not on my life. Several years ago at my uncles funeral, there were about seven of us having a cigarette after the service. Everyone was talking about what color jumpsuit they wore when the were arrested. I was the only one that hadn't been.

Nice of Concord city to arrange camps at Tahoe, because everyone knows that Concord sucks. Especially the residents.

Looks fun. At that price, I would rather go to Yosemite, but I don't have kids to take care of.

This for sure...
It does get easier but, I do not like going to places where you have to reserve or designated for a spot. I only like going to an area where you just find your own spot and with just your family or group of friends being around.

I am just not a fan of camping with many people I do not know within view. I am sure it is different in every state. Here in Arizona its nice to be able to camp like that anyways.

We went to Lair of the Bear when I was a kid. It was fun for everyone. Activities for us kids so my parents could relax.

My sister has gone to a similar family camp with her husband and kids and had a great time. My youngest isn't yet old enough to go off and do activities without a lot of supervision, but in a couple years we plan to do the family camp thing too.

This is almost impossible in CT. All the good spots get reserved QUICK.

Unless you come during the week and get lucky (nothing is reserved). But reservations take priority.

Doing reservations is easy (reserve America)....no big deal.

I like space/room as well when we go camping and for that reason I usually book 2 campsites (as we have 6 kids and sometimes family/friends come) so there is plenty of space (neighbors not too close).

But the key is to get the right site, some sites are just horrible.
