An acquaintence of mine...
not sure if it was an arranged marriage... but she had a deadline by which she was to be married or at least engaged. Her parents gave her a sort of list on who was available and acceptable... she dated one once, did not work out... dated the second and after the 3rd date, they became engaged. six months later they were married and four months after that, she became pregnant.

eh... i have no idea how to put it. she seems like a nice girl, but she knows no english and is slowly learning chinese to communicate with the rest of us (she's vietnamese.) she's the daughter of a friend of my aunt and uncle and wanted to come to the US or some weird thing like that... i just think it's the floodgate for the rest of her family to show up.

that will be my uncle. 😀 he also married a little vietnamese girl, and divorced his wife of several years to do it.
i still think he's an asshole for that, and i'm just waiting for the day.
sadly she is also nice too, but knows no english or chinese, so i can't talk to her either.
My best friend was set up in an arranged wedding...he was East Indian seeing a white lady...a few years pass his parents tells him that he is getting married to a lady from India. He does it with regret to save face with the family name. A week later they find him in his car, dead, He drank a 2-6er of rye and stuck a hose in his exhaust and went to sleep. Man I was pissed....I lost a great friend because of their arcaic cultures.

my cousin was in an arranged marriage. i thought it was just to get her a green card, but they had a baby together. of course they're divorced now.

I know a 17 year old arranged for marriage, and a 50ish that is in an arranged marriage.
First, the younger of the two ... his family goes to India every summer, where they own alot of land, cows, lamb, ... chickens. His family is middle class here, but rich there. He is arranged to marry a girl there, also from a wealthy family.
The older of the two was in love with another woman, but was forced to follow tradition. I believe he has learned to love his arranged wife, maybe not as a spouse, but as a companion. They have 3 children, college age or older. He also supported her going to medical school after the kids all left home. He is a great guy, and it's sad to think that he had to give up a relationship to be forced into a new one.

My parents were arranged marriage
But it wasn't traditional indian arranged marriage where it was decided when they were little
Instead, their parents had each of them meet (about 2 months before the wedding) and my parents had the final say on whether or not they wanted to get married to the other
