Try as we may to ignore you, you still exist in ATOT. That proves that this theory is flawed and that objects exist when not observed.

edit: And apparently not only do you exist in said state, you are able to create and give reps out of thin air which is ridiculous. You're abnormal and a danger to the fabric of space time.

define measuring instrument or entity. if i understand you correctly, this is fucking stupid. your theory would mean that a tree does not exist if no one is looking at it, but magically, when someone looks, it comes back. fucking retarded. and yes, when a tree falls it makes a sound, even if no one is around

you are wrong

quantum tunneling does NOT work on a Macro scale, no matter how fast you run, how many times you try or how many shots of Tequila you take, it does not work

i have scars to prove this

This is not something a crackpot scientist came up with. My post has a valid scientific base, although most scientists don't agree with it when it comes to objects larger than a few atoms in size. I'm not making this stuff up. Quantum physics is extremely weird and defies common sense. It 'as been proven. 'ave you heard of the double-slit experiment?

Oh, and the guy who said quantum tunneling does not work on a macro scale: it does work, it's just that the probabilities are so incredibly small.

Well, technically I DO believe in all this. I do believe that technically, all my molecules could randomly jump 3 feet to the left, or my arm might fall off. However, the timescale for macro quantum tunneling is probably the life of several universes.

Also, wave function theory, while there is scientific backing, cannot be proven

Exactly. That's what I said. Just because it would take 10^50 years for it to 'appen, doesn't mean it's impossible.

Your definition of scientist must strangely coincide with the ID crowd's idea of Scientific Theory.

Never figured replicants to be dumb fucks.

well apparently i didn't understand you correctly. explain what you mean by measuring instrument or entity. explain how something cannot exist if it is not being observed. also, where is this proof? i'll look into the double-slit experiment

Sorry, but in order to have a realistic probability of achieving such a feat, I would 'ave to attempt this for an amount of time which is many times longer than the age of the Universe itself.

So... you're saying that you can't actually walk through a solid brick wall if you try long enough? You can only try for the amount of time that you're alive, obviously.

I, however, can, as I drive a spaceship powered by the Infinite Improbability drive.

Not really. This is a debate that HAS raged on in the physics community for years.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave_function

This is the theory that is being debated

Einstein, Schrodiner, and Bohr all studied this. Lots of qualified scientists such as Brian Greene, and Michio Kaku and other physicists also study this.

It isn't a crackpot idea.

Seemingly impossible events are actually possible thanks to quantum physics. It's just that it would take an extremely long time to achieve things like that.

There is a non-zero possibility that I could disappear from my office and appear in a beach in 'awaii.

Yes, I understand it. But you stated that you could walk through a brick wall, if you tried long enough. Stating that you can implies a higher level of probability than "non-zero". You cannot, in fact, walk through a brick wall... even though theoretically, you could.
Why don't you go ahead and theorize in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first? 😉

I know about Quantum Physics. I was not referring to the idea, rather the op...

Well, in reality, there is a non-zero probability of being able to walk through a wall if you try for a couple of 'ours. 'owever, that probability is so close to 0 that it's not worth trying. Besides, I just used that example as an illustration of the concept at 'and.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with quantum physics, but there is a theory that says that objects don't exist unless they are observed. If an object is not being observed (not just by 'uman beings, but by any measuring instrument or entity) then the object exists in all possible quantum states (which means the object doesn't really exist where you think it does).

I, for one, believe that if an object is NOT being observed, then such object is not there. Only when an observation is made, all the quantum states of the object collapse and the object appears where the probability of existing is the greatest.

It's all about probabilities. When objects are observed, they are seen at a location in space where the probability of existence is the 'ighest.

That's not the weirdest part. Sometimes it is possible for an object to appear (due to the collapse of all quantum states) in a place where it is not supposed to (the one with the 'ighest probability). This means that all of a sudden an object can appear ANYWHERE else in the Universe. The probability is small, but it is non-zero. That means that ANY object in the Universe, even you, can suddenly appear in another place in the Universe.

You can walk through a solid brick wall if you try long enough.

Can you video yourself attempting this repeatedly 20-30 times please?

Then you better get started, hadn't you? Be sure to update us when you have succeeded.

what the hell is up with the removal of the H in some of your words? if you're trying to type out an accent, why not do it for every word instead of ones that begin with an H?

horray for physics attempting to describe systems that philosophy has been discussing for hundreds of years that still don't mean squat to you, me, or everyday life.
