it's hard to maintain the server computers that are runing commands that support older plans, for example. the move to upgrade the paths have been very hard for Verizon (merged w/M) over the years. I know it sucks, because several times you get cut off, because their technicians have to migrate old information and somehow blend it in with new schemes to keep their systems running, in the most optimal conditions. prime example of getting cut off, or weak signal integrity despite possible system failures and mother nature.

just thought you'd know. cell phones aren't perfect (yet...), but they are pretty nice to have.

p.s. I don't believe in perfect cell phones, but I know a company that is trying to bring advanced South Korean technology/cell phones to the front doors of stone-age-cell-phone America.

very interestingly, i think one area that China (and perhaps most other asian countries) definitely has the US beat badly is in cellular service technology. No, im not talking about fancy schmancy cell phones. Im talking about cellular coverage.

I live in a highly populated area of the Bay Area, CA, and sometimes when i go to one of the state parks around here (and mind you, this is very very close to the city-- basically in the city. Alum Rock park to be exact), i can barely get any reception. Most of the time its no service. This is just an example-- wireless service has always been unstable in my experience. And i have used several different large providers.

On the other hand, Ive noticed that no matter where you are in China, the service is incredible. I travel to China a lot, and to many many VERY primitiveand rural areas/provinces. Even in those places, coverage is excellent. Every few miles on the rural mountain "roads" (which are in such poor condition you couldnt imagine) they have signs that say "China Mobile provides service here." Yes, the wireless service in China is truly a beast.
