Some important points I saw made over and over again by the candidates regarding fixing issues: put power in the hands of the people. There is a ton of support and belief in the stances these guys take that imply a strong belief that folks when acting with knowledge and on a level playing field will end up with a better quality of life than they otherwise would have.

Getting that level playing field and putting the efforts in places to create a level playing field will pose a big challenge, but these guys agree that the level playing field in most cases (college tuition prices, jobs, housing) involves getting the government off the field.

Ron Paul made a good point regarding the industries that government gets involved in and the corresponding increase in price of doing business with those industries.

So in other words, you like it when they blow smoke up your ass.

Since when has the GOP ever put "power in the hands of the people" ?

No, that was him being a huge economic moron.

Tuition in Canada is much lower than in the US. In many European countries it is free. In some European countries, it is free even for foreigners.

Norway will even pay for its citizens' tuition in non-Norweigan schools in other countries.

The cost of healthcare is also lower in countries where government has a bigger hand in things.

The solution to the student debt problem is to have the government only guarantee a small amount of loans (say $10k or $20k), and have the rest be dischargeable in bankruptcy. Loaning institutions will re-price their loans and will set maximums that they will lend to art history majors, engineers, and doctors.

No bank in their right mind is going to loan an 18 year old kid $240k to do an art history degree if they can discharge it in bankruptcy.

Romney 2012 = 4 more years of rank stupidity and bankster looting. May as well just go campaign for obama. Hell I bet Romney will keep the same WH staff.

Jim Cramer's take:

(the actual comment starts around 2:30 mark)
Unregulated my ass. I hope Jim Cramer isn't really dumb enough to believe that it was unregulated. If he is, they can fire him and replace him with me or anyone else who isn't that dumb.

That was just delightful. He literally just sunk his campaign in under a minute. As he was talking all that flashed across my brain over and over was Bushism.

I was actually thinking more Reagan...

But Reagan had that grandfatherly "Well..." that he could pull out of his pants and hit you with an old saying that would get your mind completely off of the question and thinking of lemonade on a summer afternoon.

A damn good salesman for someone with Altzheimers.....

I say give Obama another 4 with a slight advantage in the house/senate. If nothing happens, then it is time for a sweep in the opposite direction.

This landlocked BS that the Republican house/senate has pushed on us is completely anti-productive. Then they have the balls to say it is all Obama's fault when he has only been in less than 3 years working on stuff that was put in place through the last 20 (yes, Bush AND Clinton AND Bush).

Are we that idiotic that we are willing to blame all the countries problems on the guy currently in the hot seat rather than take it to the people that could actually DO something about it?

Wall Street has regulators but they were woefully inept at their respective jobs.
