Anyone else waiting on the new MB Air?

I saved up for a Canon 5D II last december but decided to wait and get one on sale + cheapest Apple laptop possible for my gf.

I just bought the camera. Now just have to wait for the release of the new MacBook Air 11 inch. I refuse to buy one with a C2D :\

I was, but ended up spending my money on something silly. I couldn't wait, and my cheap Acer laptop is doing me well.

Yes. 13" unless they do a 15", but even then, probably a 13". 11" is too small for me - I love the 15" resolution on the 13" though.

Please please please have SATA-III.

If they can give me Sandy Bridge and at least a 128GB SSD standard, I'm in.

Nope. C2D MBA for me. Coolbook supports only C2D Macs.

It's a big deal for me since silence and less heat is more important for me. If I needed big computing power, I'd go desktop...

Don't really need backlit keyboard since I don't work in the dark that often.

yes, i've been using my personal laptop at work for the last 5 months to wait for the new MBA. My macbook late 2008 model is already a C2D 2.0, I couldn't stand getting a new computer that has the same processor.

Trying to decide between a base 13 inch or a pimped out version with i7 and 256 gig SSD. Is there a huge performance gain by going to the i7? I might end up running a VM in VMware Fusion on it.

some benchmarks reported 1.2x better performance with the i7. Not worth the upgrade imp. Keep the $$$ and the battery life!

Macbook air with one or two USB ports is a joke...I need more than 3 USB! And Air is also a bigger joke without a DVD drive I dont like the idea of carry external dvd drive around. Dont bother to waste money for extras!

Serious question: what are you carrying around that you need ready access to that's only on optical media these days? The consensus these days is that optical is dead, and as a Mac owner it's been years since I've used the optical drive in my MBP.

What's an optical drive? Is that the thing you use with the little square things from the save icon?

Also his point about it only having 2 USB ports.... You need to spend at least $2500 (or whatever the 17" goes for these days) in order to get 3 USB on an Apple laptop.
