Sooo after a 5D III release thoughts on $1,700? or is that pushing it? That would only be $300 which is a couple weekends at the club ;)

Sounds reasonable. Although you may not wait that long because the new AF system on the 5D III is sure to give you some serious doubts about getting a 5D II ;)

lol, probably wont be enough to change my vote for the 5D II. It's probably going to retail at $2,500 which is $800 more than I want to spend. I probably would buy a 5D but I really want video :D

If they release a 5D3 with improved AF, you're going to be drooling over the new AF system compared to the crap they call "autofocus" on the 5D and 5D2 ;)

Center AF on the 5DII works fine...perfect for my needs. No need to wait around for the next thing; I am enjoying taking pics now!

Yeah it works great in daylight (center and outside points). Gets really annoying once the light levels drop though. I usually keep a speedlight on my 5D to use as AF assist.

Personally I would save money and wait for the full frame 5d iii and be happy with my purchase instead of buying cheaper cameras and feeling the need to upgrade every couple of years which would end up being expensive.

the thing is, if you feel the need to upgrade every couple of years, no camera will satisfy you. You buy what you need now, and more importantly, what you can afford. As cool as all the new features of cameras and stuff are... gotta step back from the gear or else you'll never be happy.

wait for the 5D3, but the 7D2 to me isn't worth waiting for. The 7D is still a champion in terms of sheer features. Do you really think Canon's going to upgrade the 7D more in terms of AF? Probably a new sensor at best late this year, but I'd say 2012 at least. I want to say the 7D's on a 24-30 month schedule. Plus, Nikon hasn't even threatened the 7D enough to warrant an upgrade.

5D Mark III & 7D Mark II Within a Month!
Enjoy the spelling mistakes. :)

My local dealer, media markt, claims that the new 5d3 and 7d2 will be announced within a month and in the shelves this summer. The sales representative was so sure and convincing that I am selling my 5d2 before the price drops. He claimed the sales team already prepares for the rush of totally 7 new models/updates from Canon and Nikon, and that the new add’s from media markt are being prepared formthis as we speek!

CR’s Take
Not likely. I think I’ll see a 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x before I see a 7D Mark II.

I know of two dealers that have advanced knowledge of some product announcements, and by advanced… I mean about 48 hours.

File this under “grain of salt bigger than a Bentley”

I just got the 60D and love it. Swivel screen is very handy. While it seems like a gimmick, it is not!

Great video from people that really use it professional:

Oh, and while I was in the camera store I heard a couple times that they have shortages because of the Japan issues.

I have noticed this too. Prices on everything canon bodies lenses etc have gone way up since before the earthquake and amazon and BH photo have a lot of things that are out of stock or up in price significantly

You all seriously need to take CanonRumors with a massive grain of salt.

How on earth can you all be talking the 7DII when Nikon hasn't even matched it yet? You're going to see 1- and 5-series updates before you see a successor to the 7D.

The 5D is on a 3-year product cycle and its replacement is expected sometimes around Q4 this year unless the situation in Japan delays it.

And while I think the 5DIII, along with its 7D features, will be an amazing camera, I have no doubt Canon is going to make you pay for it. The 5DII currently costs $2800. I would expect the MSRP for the 5DIII to land between $3500-$4000 alone. Of course you'll want to get the new 24-70 2.8L IS with it and my guess is its debut MSRP will be around $2K.

The D7000 wants a word with you :p

I'm undecided. I know Canon is run by marketing who want to make sure you can't get a full-frame with good AF for less than ~6K, but if Nikon can put out the D800 within a reasonable timeframe Canon's going to be hard pressed to keep selling full-frame rebels.

CR0 rumors are usually... uhmm... worthless? Even CR1s too. Multiple CR1s sometime hit a similar resonance, and CR2s and up are usually more on the money.
