Anyone else waiting for Homefront?

I preordered copies for my son and myself. The trailer and screenshots look pretty good to me. Also waiting for crysis 2 and rage to be released.

I don't preorder based on trailers alone, but the game looks pretty damn good. Definitely on my wishlist. Lets all hope it pans out to be as good of a game as it looks, and is also something refreshingly different from what we have now (which was the impression that the trailer left on me).

Hopefully there's a different solution to unlocking weapons than just leveling up and getting exp to get weapons. I think that system becomes too unfair for new players after a while. A system like what Counter Strike uses was my favorite. Sure, for the first couple of rounds you can't buy shit, but after you kill a couple of people you can get whatever weapon you want, regardless of how long you've been playing the game.

If it's not already an established franchise or I don't get to play the game a little before I buy, I will never pre-order it. We get burned on too many games that look cool but ultimately suck.

+1, if it is not an established franchise, I also don't pre-order. The last game I pre-ordered was Witcher 2 for example, there is just 0.0000% that they can screw that one up.

Now, with that being said, I am actually looking forward to Homefront more than any other game in recent memory, it looks like a more 'urban' version of BFBC2, which was one of my favorite games ever.

I was looking through a magazine one time and seen what looked to be a good pc shooter war game. I wish I could remember what, but it was based on the usa military.

I paid 50 bucks and this thing was a pile of junk. Never again.

It wasn't Full Spectrum Warrior was it? That game was terrible.

Speaking of demos, why don't companies give out demos anymore? The last one I played was for COD4....and that was a badass little demo.

I preordered Crysis 2 because its on sale, but Homefront only got mediocre reviews for gameplay. Unless I know a game is going to be great I usually wait until the price comes down.

However, I'm glad to see a AAA war game that isn't just exploiting the next level of shock value, flashy cut scenes, and other gimmicks for adrenaline. A little more substance is greatly appreciated.

Even well established franchises turn out shit. Master of Orion 3, Civilization 5, Fallout 3 (depending on who you talk to)...

I'm going to wait and be optimistic.

In your opinion, sure, but I have many people on my friends list on steam that have over 100 hours into both Fallout 3 and NV. I really doubt that everyone shares your opinion; I happen to be someone who doesn't.

So *that's* what opinions are. I wasn't sure. I thought that when someone said something was good or bad, it meant everyone felt exactly the same way.

If that's the case then you should have named EVERY game on your list because if that's your criteria there is always someone who thinks a game is crap. No matter the game.

I was the trailer for this last week. The story line is awful. A country with a GDP of 40 billion takes over most of east asia and invades the united states?

I'm getting it for multiplayer. Dont really care if the other team is Korean, Vietnamese, Russian, unnamed middle eastern country, etc. I just want something new to play.

No it really wasn't.

Suit yourself, but with an average 91% score on Metacritic, there's not a lot of people who would agree. To toss you a bone, Bethesda really needs to trash the Gamebryo engine. That would have prevented most of FO3's problems right there.

Homefront has me intrigued. It has a high risk of becoming another generic shooter though. It reminds me a bit too much of Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. An alternate history FPS that was just awful. I'm going to wait for the demo to come out on PSN first (since PC demos never get released anymore).

Maybe not such a big stretch- you do realize that North Korea has the fourth largest standing army in the world?

Many games get very high scores that don't deserve them like Bioshock. My biggest problems with the game was the horrible voice acting, terrible main storyline, ridiculously low level, reaching highest level made game too easy, and no real thought put into making every "dungeon" feel unique since they reused the same textures for everything. Sure the freedom was very fun but everything else about the game was meh. Not to mention how buggy it was.

lol. Fallout will forever remain one of those games nobody seems to sit in the middle on. You either love it or absolutely hate it. I don't care for it myself but I could see how it might be fun on a console to those who don't play many PC shooters.

Home Front will be added to my collection short of dismal reviews, I'm a sucker for shooters.
