Anyone else waiting for a Razer Viper?

First off, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about...

http://www.razerzone.com/viper.html

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/razer_viper_optical.php

I pre-ordered mine early last week. Razer has already charged my card, has my order as 'pending', and have posted that the mice are en route to their fulfillment warehouses for almost a week now. Anyone get one yet or know more details on when they will be shipping? I had a Logitech MX-510 in my hands at Best Buy, but went with one of these instead - I just don't care for the 'tie-dyed rust' looking finish on the MX. Plus, I used to use Boomslang 2000, the accuracy is amazing, but the scroll wheel is a bit to far up on it to be comfortable. The Viper sounds like it will kick a$$, but I'm just impatient to get it.

After a bit of use at a BFG LAN event I liked the Sniper Boomslang 2100 (BFG branded Boomslang 2000 I believe), may have to pass my MX300 on down to my laptop for this one...

Yeah, the Boomer and the Sniper come in a 2100 dpi model now. The old Razer Boomslang came in 2000 dpi model. I was pretty stoked to see the revival of Razer to tell you the truth. The guys at Razer have been through a lot to try to keep these products alive, and I'm glad to see that BFG hopped on board with them and is promoting the products at their LAN's. The nice thing about this round as well is that the mice are considerably cheaper now, I purchased my Boomslang 2000 for close to $100 two years ago.

BFG is actually the US distributor for Razer now, so expect them to announce their branded Viper. Sniper Viper... I like the sound of that...

No doubt, that is cool. I had never heard of BFG before I picked up one of their FX 5900's. It's been great, and they have the absolute best warrantee in the biz. If the NV40 proves to be the way to go, I will definitely look to BFG.

You didn't by chance get to mess with a Viper at their LAN..?

No 🙁 It was in December, so they were just talking about the "next gen" Sniper. They're a cool group of people and they know exactly what they're doing. One cool thing I like is that I can just take a ~45 minute drive if I ever need to RMA anything 🙂. Much better than wasting money on UPS and waiting over a week for it to be shipped one way.

45 minutes is kinda a long hike everyday I guess, but if I was that close I'd be pimpin' myself out for employment with them.

i think the mx510 is fine, it has more buttons, which comes in handy for serious gamers
I'm sure the MX510 is probably fine. A buddy of mine has the mx700, and even the wireless version is nice. I also have a dual optical Logitech myself. For me, the choice of going with Razer is not because M$ and Logitech mice aren't good, but because Razer is a small company that is trying to shake the market up a bit by offering a more precise pointing device. If we always allow the big guys to dictate the level of innovation we can get, eventually there will be only enough innovation in products to keep us buying them.

For example, check out this load of MS Marketing in regards to the low 400dpi of their mice...

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/innovation/tech_overview.mspx#Smoother

If you ever have the chance to use a mouse with a dpi of 1000+, you will know that the information in that article is BS and that nothing can "emulate" a higher dpi "experience".

Boo-hoo! Send them an email or call them. 😛

I talked to them yesterday (wednesday) and they said the shipment was sitting in customs in NY and they should start shipping Friday the 26th, no later than monday. Patiently waiting for mine to go along with my 2100 🙂

How much?
EDIT: nm, $49.95

I assume that everyone waiting for their Vipers got em by now. I was out of town for the last week, and mine was waiting for me when I got home. This mouse is sweet, much easier for me to handle than the BoomSlang was, and the teflon feet a smooth as silk. Everything was cool, except I didn't get a driver disc with mine - no biggie I just downloaded it.

I didn't get one because of the price, but I thought the boomslang was one of the most comfortable mice out there. It felt bigger than most of the other mice out there.

I think I'll wait for a BFG version just for their tech support and warranty service.
