So I just bought 8 new HDDVD's via Amazon for $42.08.

A bunch of good movies at very good prices, especially for HD quality.

Just wondering if anyone else has added titles to their collection lately?

With these I'll have 24 HDDVD's and am most likely done unless I find other titles that I am really interested in.

I have probably about 50 HD DVD's, but 10 of those were "freebies" with equipment purchase. I just purchased 3 last week for $12 shipped. It has to be $4 or less (I.e. less than the rental of an equivalent Blu-ray) to get my attention.

why buy disks? when the next format comes out your collection will be worthless. just download your movies and enjoy.

Do you know how long it will take to download a 30GB file over a 6mpbs connection. Plus, I don't think that it is too legal. I have yet to see a "pay to download" site have the new audio codecs and bitrates anywhere close to what you can find on an HD DVD or Blu-ray.

Sure, if you like inferior video and audio quality, go for it. When the next format comes out, the current movies may never be released on that format. Plus, I still have cassette tapes that work fine and aren't worthless even though the next format has come out.

It is going to be a long time before all areas have enough bandwidth to download movies. My grandparents live 30 miles from a good size city (40,000 people) and the only internet options they have are dial-up or highly overpriced satellite internet. No DSL or Cable options in their area yet.

My brother is still jealous of me because I have Meet the Parents and Meet the Faulkers on HD DVD and they haven't yet been released on Blu-ray.

Yeah, you're right. In 10 years when Blu-ray dies off, you can't watch your movies anymore.

I've got about 90, and there are still a few out there that I want. When they are $5 or less, and it's a movie you enjoy, why not? I also like the box sets at low prices. I've picked up Oceans 11/12/13 set, Ultimate Matrix collection, Heroes season 1, Battlestar Galactica S1, Star Trek The Original Series S1, Planet Earth, Harry Potter 1-5 Giftset, and the Blade Runner limited giftset, all for less than the prices of their SD equivalents (if such a thing even exists). I still buy stuff on Blu too but I've been spoiled by the price for HD DVD.

I am loving it...just bought a whole bunch. Though I am pooling with my buddy so we just buy what is missing from the pooled collection.

Because Comcast will not let you. What the hell did you think they want Hulu for?

If they put Hulu entirely behind a paywall, it'll die off or just become yet another video on demand source.
