Anyone else sick of hearing about the Pope's Death?

I am.........

It's almost as bad as when Princess Diana died........another death that I could care less about......

It is sad, however, there will be another pope, just like another president...life goes on and I personally don't think any one individual in those roles is crucial, it is the lineage the counts.

Yes he was only the most recognized figure in the whole world and to many people the most important person in their lives outside theri friends and family. "God" forbid they give some attention to him the day after he dies..

I did a quick check of all major travel sites expecting 'Hot Deal of a Lifetime: fly to Rome, stay for 2 days, see dead pope'.
Somehow, all of them missed out on this great opportunity 🙂

Not really.. it is a big event. This hasn't happened in 26 years, and considering the Pope is one of the closest things we have to a leader of Earth I'd say he is news worthy. Better to hear about him than Schiavo or any of that nonsense.

Leader of Catholics, who yes, are the major populace and religion of the world. However, I am not catholic, and did not vote, or in any way give my consent for him to rule. I do agree he is important in a figurehead sort of way, closest thing to God that we have. However, he is mortal, and will be replaced with another Pope. It is the title and notion of there being a pope that makes people feel secure.

P & N alert, P & N alert.

this is history in the makings folks

for most of us (me included), this is probably the first time we witness the election process of a pope

Even for many non-Catholics he acts as a mediator and advisors to all the world. I was learning about what he did for Poland's change from communism and it really was thanks to him that it happened. I'd also assume that many non-Catholics here in America and other countries rely on him to speak out against what nations are doing (death penalty, abortion, etc.).

dude, its the freakin' pope. If you don't know how significant this is then do some reasearch.

President die = gee, that's pretty bad, although he is only in power for 8 years.

We're talking about the most powerful man in the world, and he is gone.

It's a very big deal.

I too am worn out from all the pope coverage over the last couple of days. I understand his tremendous importance to Catholics, but I have a hard time seeing how this story warrants the amount of coverage it's garnered. For non-Catholics it just isn't that big a deal IMO.

That is enlightening, however, still figurehead sticks out in my mind. It was him, along with many many advisors that things were said and done on our behalf. A great man yes, however, not the be all and end all.

However, like others have said, coverage of him is intensely more enjoyable then Schiavo and nightly news.

Did the citizens of Rome elect Augustus to rule? Did they elect Caesar to rule? Nope.
The Pope is the continuation of the Roman Empire. I, personally, think it's the coolest thing EVAR. John Paul II was a good man, who changed countless lives around the world.

His soul was the first thing I have prayed for in 10 years. I'm sure many people are the same as me.

And another will be elected. Albeit with slightly different views, but the views of the catholic church nonetheless. I agree he had great sway, just like mother theresa, the world survived then and will now. People are powerful, not person.
