Anyone else seeing a potentially fraudulent auctions on Ebay?

Well i might be getting an Alienware lappy for xmas and wanted to check ebay. And its scary how many auctions seem to be fraud. A lot of the auctions dont have paypal buyer protection, and they all ask for emails first.

so i test one and one guy is selling about $10,000 in merchandise and has a buy it now of $700. Wanted payment off ebay, and wouldnt ship first. I was burned once before on ebay, so i know the routine of these scammers. The guy that screwed me has 250+ feedback too and i never got the money b/c i went off ebay like a moron.

So now im checking auctions with buyer protection only.

Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone if they are holiday shopping on ebay. Dont want anyone to get ripped off at this time of the year

Really, everyone expects places to be like these hardware forums. New flash: people dont ship first, thats something that traders started that will probably never catch on ANYWHERE but hardware forums. Its kinda stupid actually, would you ask a website to ship first? When amazon first started you think they would ship before getting paid?

Some ebayers are always selling musicians' bootleg recordings. Some of these musicians allow their shows to be recorded live and freely traded or shared among fans. Other musicians do not allow taping or sharing of their live shows. Regardless, ebay should never allow these auctions to take place and apparently will halt them, but only if someone complains. You could probably go to ebay right now and find huge Hendrix among others bootleg collections. Ebay doesn't do a very good job policing it's auctions ands I'm not really sure they care. On a related note you would think the RIAA would go after some of these violators. Looks like it would be easier than prosecuting a 10 year old for downloading a song on the Internet.

isn't "Don't pay for items or sell items to people outside of the Ebay website" like the very 1st thing on their list of rules for safe shopping on Ebay?

all im doing is giving everyone a heads up before they bid. im not talking about just buying off ebay, just do your background check of the sellers before you bid.

a whole bunch of auctions were just cancelled for this one seller with an ebay store and 1100 feedback. he just wrote me back and he said someone hacked his account.

just a friendly warning.

That means AT FS/T IS BAD since its outside of ebay! OMGWTFBBQ! -- Sorry couldn't resist.

Seriously though they do push that VERY often and they should, but people never listen...

If you want to see fraudulent auctions on ebay, just do a search for hayabusa motorcycles. It's pretty common to see scams for motorcycles for some reason. Hayabusa's are normally $7-10K but just do a search and you'll see scammers selling them for $2K buy-it-now.
